kruzinkel Posted January 25, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 25, 2020 I have looked around the boards trying to find the answer to my specific circumstances, but haven't seen one. I booked last minute on Harmony thru the casino with a comp cabin. Originally, I was booked in a Studio Ocean View since I was travelling alone, and that was fine. I was offered a Royal Up a couple weeks ago and placed a bid on a Central Park Balcony- knowing that if accepted I would be paying double occupancy for a single occupant-but was fine with that, too. Yesterday, my Royal Up bid was accepted and I now am in a CP Balcony cabin. Cool! Here is my question. I know that in my original cabin, I would not receive any CA points. No points if you don't pay-that is understood. In the past, I have booked an upgrade when making my reservation with the casino. For example, comp was an ocean view, but I upgraded it to a JS and got the points. Technically, I did pay for the Royal Up, so do I now get the points in this new cabin? Do I get the single occupancy bonus since it is in a standard double occupancy cabin? Can't seem to find an answer- anyone else done this? Did you get any CA points at all? Rare John&LaLa Posted January 25, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 25, 2020 (edited) Casino comps get points based on the cabin level and occupancy No idea on that studio cabin, though. Laura got double points on several casino cruises this summer, but they were std inside cabins RoyalUp never changes your points as far as I know Edited January 25, 2020 by John&LaLa

kruzinkel Posted January 25, 2020 Author #5 Share Posted January 25, 2020 as i understood it, as long as you paid something- you got the points. I assumed that I would not get them on the original room- since i only paid the taxes. but i will have paid something for this new room (balcony for $400 is still pretty good). Guess I will see how it turns out. I have never been on a cruise where I was a single occupant, so add that to the mix and I have no idea how the CA points will work in a casino comped, royal up'd cabin! truffles2 Posted January 25, 2020 #6 Share Posted January 25, 2020 I believe this will answer your question...found in Royal Up FAQ: If my RoyalUp℠ offer is accepted, will I earn Crown & Anchor points at the rate associated with my upgraded stateroom category? No. Accepted offers will earn Crown & Anchor points at the original stateroom category purchased, and not the category of the upgraded stateroom. The terms and conditions of your original cruise booking will remain in effect following the acceptance ...

That applies to other types of free/comped cruises, but not casino comps. You always get the points.

The FAQ quoted generally refers to suite points. Solo bonus points are a unique animal, but I still would not expect more than 1 per night

Well aware of that, curious if the points change if OP changes from studio cabin to std cabin
