We will do one day of boating/snorkelling but we want one of these ports to be a beach day. Which location is easiest to do beach on your own? By easiest I mean available transport, public beach access etc  All tours seem to include boating, would be happy to hire a private driver to take us around. We are a group of 8. Any recommendations or comments appreciated. We are on the Jewell March 20/20

I strongly suggest you get out on the lagoon to experience Bora Bora.  With 8 people you can consider Pure Snorkeling for a half day spectacular trip.  They use a small fast boat so it would just be the 8 of you.  You finish at around 1:00 pm and they will drop you back at the tender location or at Bloody Mary’s or at Matira Beach if you prefer.  The beach is beautiful and there are a number of lunch options there.  The beach is adjacent to the Intercontinental Hotel and when you are ready to head back to the tender location their concierge will call a taxi for you (commonly a shuttle operates for $5 per person to/from the beach/tender location.  A taxi should be $20 per vehicle which is the same as if you were paying per person for 4 people.

If you don’t want the excursion you can use a taxi or shuttle to the beach as described above.

Agree with Flight Medic- you shouldn't miss going out on the lagoon in Bora Bora. Pure Snorkeling, Lagoon Service or Maohi Nui can accommodate your big group. Then in Moorea, we had a wonderful time doing a day stay at the Hilton Moorea- beautiful beach, great snorkeling, nice pool, all beach items free and spectacular lunch. It was $85pp. Since you're on a big ship you'd want to reserve transportation ahead of time with Albert's or Torea Nui Transport for the Hilton. If it's something that interests you, and you're on a big ship like Jewel, I'd book early as they have limited slots.
