backforty Posted February 14, 2020 #1 Share Posted February 14, 2020 (edited) What 100% safe options suitable for a 4 year old child to do in Grand Turk, preferably inexpensive? (not a cruise line excursion) 1. Is there a decent beach within a 5 minute walk from dock? If so , how do you get there? Is it free? 2. If not, where is the closest decent beach, and how do you get there? 3. What are my other (safe) options that would occupy a young child for the day and not cost much? We were just there with our three kids, 11, 8, 6. The beach is located right off the pier, so only a 5 minute or so walk from the ship; it will be visible when you dock. It is free- you will see loads of loungers and umbrellas. Only the green umbrella ones are free as they are provided by the port/ Margaritaville. The others are $10 each, so not a terrible price for the day. The beach is safe and the water calm, but of course keep a close eye as you would near any body of water. The beach can get a little crowded, but it isn't crazy. Other options might be to take a tram tour of the island. They are pretty inexpensive (we paid $75 for all five of us). It lasted 2 hours and we saw the town, lots of donkeys at the lighthouse, and flamingos at the salt flats. We felt it was worth it and our kids had a lot of fun. pacruise804 Posted February 14, 2020 #3 Share Posted February 14, 2020 The beach and Margaritaville are both free and very close to the dock. Further down the beach it is less crowded but also less amenities until you get to Jack's Shack (about 1/3 mile). The beach is free but you would pay for an umbrella, per their website the loungers are free. Staying on the ship where it isn't as crowded isn't bad either.
