Flatbush Flyer Posted February 19, 2020 #26 Share Posted February 19, 2020 Have never/would never wait more then 10 minutes to order a meal at an unfilled shared table anywhere on an O ship.

Totally agree. One of the reasons we prefer 2 tops unless we are traveling/dining with friends. Had enough "less than pleasurable" dinner partners (strangers) to do otherwise. As always, YMMV. 😊
Rare pinotlover Posted February 19, 2020 #28 Share Posted February 19, 2020 Typically they fill a sharing table as people come in . Very little waiting. As mentioned above, if no one appears in short order to share, they clear the table to those present rarely quickly. The only time we ever waited 20+ minutes to be served was in Toscana when they had rejected a low life for flagrant dress code violations and made him go change, yet seated his wife with the rest of us. He took about 20-25 minutes to reappear while the rest of us waited. Things Only got worse when he returned ! A jerk on steroids! His wife should never have been seated until his return in our opinion.

Zesty Italian Posted February 19, 2020 Author #30 Share Posted February 19, 2020 You all made my day. I was thinking waiting 5-10 mins. for strangers would test my limits. So good to know Oceania seems to take care of things quickly. As I mentioned earlier, we have had people extremely late, with other cruise lines unwilling to take our orders as well as too many "less than pleasurable " dinner partners. Thanks for that phrase. What a great way to put it. I'm still trying to wrap my head around some of the stories I've read here about dress and behavior. Why would a guy think it's ok to wear a hat at the table? I would be tempted to take it off. Someone keeping me waiting to go change clothes when they are told what's acceptable beforehand? I don't think so. Would be nice if cruise lines had consistency, though. On NCL last year we looked at our watches at bkfst to see how many came in 20-30 mins. after told it was closing. Couldn't believe they were allowed as it stressed the crew. This went on for days, and one day we went to the desk 15 mins. before the deadline and were told we wouldn't be seated! There was nowhere else to eat either so did not go over well. I complained, but got nowhere.

Zesty Italian Posted February 20, 2020 Author #32 Share Posted February 20, 2020 We had one cruise with Oceania 9 mos. before that NCL cruise. We liked it very much and it was hard going back to the mass lines with announcements at the crack of dawn everyday repeated many times in 4 or 5 languages. That's why I looked forward to the Riviera again. It was more relaxed and refined in our opinion. I will say, though, the food on NCL was very good. It surprised us.
