karenemily Posted February 16, 2020 #1 Share Posted February 16, 2020 I posted this over in Private Islands but I'm not getting responses. We will be at Coco Cay at the end of March. This will be our first time there since the remodel. We are long time RCCI cruisers and always get a cabana at Labadee. However this trip it will just be us (we are recent empty nesters) as neither of our kids will be traveling with us. We looked at a cabana but wow that price seems a lot for just the two of us. So we were trying to decide between a beach bed or getting the day pass to the beach club. Or should be get a cabana at Chill Beach. We are hoping to find a more adult area that is more or less kid-less. So much of what Google is telling me is prior to the opening of the beach club. If we do a beach bed, will our view of the water be blocked (looks like it is on the map I found)? We are in port with the Anthem of the Seas. What are your thoughts? bethco Posted February 16, 2020 #2 Share Posted February 16, 2020 We are going with Coco Beach Club for the day. I was chatting with a friend who was just there this past week and she said that was wonderful. The lunch menu looks lovely.
Rare brillohead Posted February 16, 2020 #3 Share Posted February 16, 2020 I'd do the Beach Club "day pass" (no cabana) in your situation. The cabanas on Coco Cay aren't as private as the ones on Labadee, and the Beach Club is more likely to have fewer children.
taragrssjones Posted February 17, 2020 #4 Share Posted February 17, 2020 You don't need a cabana! So many beach chairs with umbrellas everywhere! We set up camp by the pool and just walked over to the beach whenever we felt like it all day. The beach club sounds really cool though. We might get a day pass there next time we go. Just make sure you get up early and go get a spot. Take advantage of the complementary room service continental breakfast that day.
reb8 Posted February 17, 2020 #5 Share Posted February 17, 2020 I purchased the beach club pass for my April 5th sailing. Reasonable price and great menu, plus a pool with a swim up bar - for me it was a no brainer. Enjoy your cruise!
suesnake2002 Posted February 17, 2020 #6 Share Posted February 17, 2020 The day beds will have families. I had purchased a chill island cabana last nov for me and hubby. Few kids. Tho i attribute that to it being mid nov. It was on a peninsula, with a small cove for swimming. It felt very private. The check in desk kept others out, even those trying to swim in. There are pool like ropes to seperate the cove.
Dlyons14 Posted February 18, 2020 #7 Share Posted February 18, 2020 We went over Xmas week and I bought a cabana at the main pool. It was great, however, I wouldn't do it again. There were plenty of chairs everywhere and we ended up spending very little time at the cabana. I have kids that wanted to spend most of time on the slides. Pros: guaranteed spot vs fighting chair hogs, cabana attendant brought us all drinks, food, and towels, and each cabana was covered with a safe for valuables. Cons: cost, not really necessary because there were plenty of chairs available at each spot of the island, ended up spending time in each zone (so not in the cabana).
