chars714 Posted February 16, 2020 #1 Share Posted February 16, 2020 Which one is better for deck parties and everything? My husband booked the cruise and signed us up for the second seating because when we are on vacation we usually eat dinner later. We will have our daughter with us, who will be 4.5 by then. Will she now really have any other kids around on the table? Should I just do the first?
Rare 1025cruise Posted February 16, 2020 #2 Share Posted February 16, 2020 Everything is scheduled around dining, so no parties will occur while you are eating. For second seating, they have an expedited kids option to feed the kids, then the kids club will come pick them up. DCL is very good about seating families with families, etc. While most with young kids eat earlier, there will be some in the later seating.
chars714 Posted February 16, 2020 Author #3 Share Posted February 16, 2020 Thanks so much for the response. That really helps. This is the first time cruising with our daughter, so I’m a bit nervous. But excited at the same time (even though it’s over a year away lol)
Rare Oceansaway17 Posted February 17, 2020 #4 Share Posted February 17, 2020 Your daughter will love Disney ships. And security is tight in the kids area. They have gates and anyone just looking and peeking in will be approached. It seemed like they had plenty of staff in the kids area. Your daughter will love all 3 restaurants especially Animators Palate. Also near the pool on starboard side is great area for pizza and burgers if she wanted to eat at say 6pm and then do other things with kids thereby allowing you and hubby to eat alone. Try the specialty Italian restaurant.
nolatravelgirl Posted February 24, 2020 #5 Share Posted February 24, 2020 We really liked late dining even with people who generally eat dinner early. There is so much food around the ship that nobody was ever hungry. We slept in a bit and would always have an afternoon snack before we headed back to the room to shower and change for the 6pm show. Kids were alert and excited for the show verses if we had early dining where we would have to rush from afternoon activities to get everyone to the dining room for early dining. If you are one of the 7 day or more trips there are really only 3 Disney owned shows that are really worth seeing, the others were just filler shows that you could skip. On the days without the Disney shows we made a game day decision as to whether we would skip the show or continue to enjoy the afternoon activities and/or nap/relax in the room. Not having to rush around to be dressed for dinner was so nice. We would never do anything but late dining now.
