Does anyone know if we can check in early and then go explore NYC, or once onboard and passed security we have to stay onboard? Alternatively, can we leave our bags with porters and then come back later for check in and boarding?

you can drop off of your bags with the porters, check in and leave. make sure your back before sail away time and allow time to clear security again
