Flying Berlin to London - how early to be there

Our flight leaves Berlin at 7:05am and we need to know how early we need to be at the airport.  When flying from Toronto on an international flight, we are advised to be at the airport 3 hours before the flight, which would be the Crack of Stupid aka 4:05am!!  🙂

Even assuming you don't have any priority, I wouldn't show up any more than 90 minutes in advance. You'll need to clear security and exit immigration, but the Germans are usually pretty efficient about both of those things. Also try to find out when your airline even opens their check-in desks, assuming you have a bag to drop.

Which airport and airline?

Tegel has security at each individual check-in desk and gate effectively. You're kept in a small holding pen ahead of the aircraft. You can pitch up very shortly before boarding begins.

British Airways & Tegel

Very easy in that case.

BA have their own lounge at Tegel (if you're OW Sapphire/Emerlad or flying First/Club) but it's not near their check-in desks. If you arrive early it's a nice spot and they'll walk you down to the check-in areas or let you know when you need to leave. You can check-in at the lounge too, never checked bags there so they might send you over to the check-in area for that.
