glam mistress Posted March 13, 2020 #2 Share Posted March 13, 2020 Here is the official tweet. Truly shocking to think Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disneyland Paris and the cruise line all closed, and all at the same time.
smeck Posted March 13, 2020 Author #3 Share Posted March 13, 2020 With the power of technology it’s amazing a virus can basically shutdown the world. Let’s stop thinking so highly of ourselves.
Donut23 Posted March 13, 2020 #4 Share Posted March 13, 2020 Don’t forget Hong Kong and Shanghai have been closed since February. Tokyo just closed so everything, ships too will be closed. i for one am happy the parks and cruises are only 9% of the company. BUT hubby is a 41 year veteran and we would love to see a buyout. Stateroom_Sailor Posted March 13, 2020 #5 Share Posted March 13, 2020 Great to see Disney do the right thing here, along with Princess, Viking, and Virgin.

What makes anyone sure a buyout would make things better? Often it gets tighter because they have to cover the cost of the buyout.
Donut23 Posted March 13, 2020 #7 Share Posted March 13, 2020 During the last big recession Disney required each cost center to reduce payroll by 40% with the promise to hire back when things improved. Oops to the last part. Anyway, their favorite policy is to buyout the older, long term employees and replace with young pups out of college ... or the same people as contract labor. their preference. Who are we to disagree!
Hllb Posted March 13, 2020 #8 Share Posted March 13, 2020 What offer is Disney making to those on affected cruises? I haven’t seen that info yet.
