I currently have a cruise on hold for August 1 sailing with final payment of May 3 . I read on here that some did not have to make final payment til 30 days out. I am from Canada and the US/Canada border is currently closed til mid May and possibly longer,so would like to know options if I am unable to make cruise due to border closure. Thanks !!

By no means an expert, but I think that everything Carnival has put out regarding cancellations, FCC and OBC are for cruise booked prior to March 6.

Since you have not booked yet, i'm guessing that normal cancellation policies apply.   I also am unsure of what you'd be entitled to if Carnival eventually cancels your cruise??

Not much help I know, but these are difficult times, and rules change as they see fit

I think the cruise with confidence is for cruises thru sept 1st. You can get a fcc for 100% of the deposit you paid and move it to a later date, like next year.

I dont know I would book a cruise for august 1st, probably let the cruise you have on hold go until things are surer imo. If you book for august 1st you have to know it might get cancelled.

We are also booked on a cruise for August 1 and also live in Canada.  I booked this cruise in March as a replacement for the cruise that was cancelled March 28.  In March, I thought August seemed like so far away but now nothing has improved with COVID19.  If I cancel or rebook now, we lose our $600 US OBC per cabin (we have 2 cabins) so I don't want to cancel.  I would rather Carnival cancel as the incentives are better.  I spoke with my travel agent as I told her that my greatest fear was that Carnival would go ahead and sail and Canada wouldn't let us travel out of the country.  She told me that if that happens, Carnival has said they will refund the cruise.  I am not sure if that is 100% accurate but I know that there are many Canadians who would be in the same situation as us and this is information that Carnival has given travel agents.  On May 3rd, we will make our final payment (which is only a few hundred dollars with all of my credits from the previous cruise).  I really don't think ships will be sailing by August 1.  They are still trying to get Carnival employees home and there are some ships with employees and COVID19 onboard.  My husband believes there is a small possibility.  Who knows but we are waiting things out due to our onboard credit.

I was also told that if I was unable to travel due to the border being closed, I would receive a refund of 100 percent in the form of FCC, which I am Ok with but I prefer this in writing...so basically I think I am going to go ahead and book and hope for the best ! We are getting a awesome Casino Rate so I guess I,m ready to gamble 🤣

So here is my question... We were cancelled with 12 hours to boarding on the 13th/14th.... We got the $600 and rebooked for July 4th...

What happens if they cancel us again....?

I had the Mardi Gras inaugural cancelled by Carnival.  That FCC was applied to my June 3 Legend cruise, which was also cancelled.  Everything was moved over to a new booking I made for end of November.  My TA said that since Carnival has been cancelling the cruises, I am able to move everything to a new booking.  Fingers crossed we finally cruise - I'm tired of trying to keep track of all these cancellations and refunds.  lol
