We will be back to Grand Cayman in November. There will be six cruise ships tendering that day. What kinda traffic jam at the pier will that be? And how long would the wait be at the pier going back to the ship? Is that a good time to stay on board or book a ship sponsored tour? Thanks!

I think anything over 3-4 ships is too many people. The town will be packed. The day we left, we counted 9 ships. That's nuts.

The place where traffic gets to be a huge mess is along 7MB. Many times traffic would come to a halt. There were just so many of those tour buses everywhere. We were there for a week, and only one day did the number of ships on the port authority site match the ships in port. There were always one or two more ships.

Whatever you do, allow extra time for the traffic along 7MB.

That is a lot of ships. But as long as you are not in a rush to get off, and don't wait until the last hour to go back, there should not be too big a problem. Remember, while there might be a crowd from other ships, you can only get on a tender from yours, so it is the passengers for your ship you are going to deal with most... but it will be crowded.

There were 5 in port the day we were there on the Star Princess. Since we didn't get there until 12:00, it wasn't too bad for us to tender in. The line was really not bad coming back either. I really didn't think it was all that crowded. I have been to more crowded places.
