keysey222 Posted August 13, 2020 #1 Share Posted August 13, 2020 We're looking to book a S.Pacific cruise on the Celebrity Equinox in either January 2022 or April 2022. Hits New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Noumea. Most cruise lines seem to sail this region between Jan and April. If you've done a cruise during these months, what's been your experience with the weather? possum52 Posted August 14, 2020 #2 Share Posted August 14, 2020 November to April is cyclone season in the South Pacific. If there is a cyclone in the area, the captain will ensure his ship and those on board are safe by sailing out of its way. We have had two cruises at that time which were slightly affected by the tail end of a cyclone. Any ports which may be affected by a cyclone will be swapped for other ports or if the cyclone is going to affect all your ports, you will go in another direction. But that is rare. The earlier in the year it is, the hotter and more humid it will be. I would look at end of March or April for a cruise to New Caledonia and Vanuatu (Noumea is the capital of New Caledonia). keysey222 Posted August 18, 2020 Author #3 Share Posted August 18, 2020 Thank you for your reply. Very helpful! I avoid cruising when it's hurricane season here in the US, so I never even thought about the port-swapping if we encounter a storm.
