For a lot of us Reps the motorway services have been convenient meeting places for coffee's and snacks with colleagues/managers.

Agreed - but we preferred the Post Houses (anyone remember them?) as their cloakrooms were rather better!

I spent 12 weeks living in a Post House. Not a great experience!

Proper sales meetings always in a hotel but up to an hour lunch with your manager or colleague from a neighbouring patch meant service stations were ideal.
