DEEDIA Posted December 19, 2020 #1 Share Posted December 19, 2020 Brexit becomes more and more closer everyday now, has anyone heard what if any thing will happen to Tourists, not just landing on Foreign soil but travelling via Foreign owned Ship. Continental firms run cruise lines, will we be able to use those Ships. Will we have to have some sort of Visa to Cruise. A lot of questions seem to be either hidden or even unknown by TA's, at some point these must be addressed and brought out into the open. If we leave January the 1st it could be quite a rush to get your papers in order. PS we Sail July 21 Britannia
amajaa Posted December 31, 2020 #2 Share Posted December 31, 2020 I will post this in the P & O forum as well. if anyone had extra months added to their passport previously they will now not be counted. Here is a checker from the Passport Office site https://www.gov.uk/check-a-passport-travel-europe-1-january-2021?utm_campaign=transition_p2&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=seg&utm_content=__act77&gclid=CKLJ1dKM-O0CFQR7GwodFtMDQw
Rare John Bull Posted January 1, 2021 #3 Share Posted January 1, 2021 For holidays you’ll see little or no difference Brexit-wise, you need to be more concerned about the impact of COVID restrictions. From today, the rules for Brits are broadly the same as for other nationalities ............. No visa required for travel to or through EU countries, that’s a definite. But you will need a minimum six months left on your passport, same as is already the case for most of the world. For all nationalities except EU nationals, the EU is planning to require a visa-waiver, similar to the one which has been required for decades for travel to the USA, but that won’t be until some time in 2022. For those of us who aren’t undesirables that just means filling an on-line form and paying somewhere around £10 to £20 for a visa-waiver good for two years. UK driving licence is good enough - at one time it was thought we’d need an International Driving Permit (£5 from a Post Office). But some car rental agencies may require an IDP, so do double-check. If you take your own car you will also be required to get an insurance green card from your insurer (normally free) and a GB sticker Changes to regs for taking a pet into the EU, but I don’t know the detail. You are only permitted to spend 90 days in the EU in any 180? 365? - day period. So a cruise, whether it starts in the UK or from an EU port, will be barely affected JB 😊
