fjr0314 Posted February 13, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2006 Leaving on our first cruise this week, and plan on using birth certificates as proof of citizenship. My wife's certificate, of course, lists her maiden name, while her driver's license has her married name. Is this going to be a problem? Thank you. Sheffie Posted February 13, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 13, 2006 I have heard that they just check the dates of birth. I don't know that personally, just have heard it.
Cotton Posted February 13, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 13, 2006 Basically, what they check for is that the name is the same on the cruise documents and the photo ID. They realize that most every woman has married and changed her last name. Just make sure you have the correct form of birth certificate - must be a state-issued certified one. kitty9 Posted February 13, 2006 #5 Share Posted February 13, 2006 Cotton is 100% correct. The cruise lines all know that 90% of women won't have the same last name as they did when they were born. I've been on 42 cruises and never was asked for a marriage license or divorce decree. Just make sure that the name on your cruise ticket is the same as on her driver's license.
