A more realistic (or honest) start date?

This is Disney's, not NCL's CEO this week giving a projection on when the "maybe" will be now.  If that's what Disney thinks, all of these cruise lines are in the same boat (yes, intended) for US sailings.  This seems like a much more honest answer than the month by month canceling that we are getting from the others.  From today's paper financial section.

It's important to note context here:

Disney's fiscal year starts 1 October. From what I'm guessing, with Parks and Resorts basically a write-off for the past two years (and their bonuses), and the team is primary focused on gassing the upcoming fiscal year into overdrive. Hence, the 1 October 2021 kickoff for the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary, holding off on opening a completed and fully functional Ratatouille ride at EPCOT until 1 October, etc.

Also, cruising is only a tiny portion of Disney profits, so they're not rushing to get back into operation. The company is plowing all of their energy into Disney+ right now, as this is has turned into a hugely profitable revenue stream for the company over the past year, exceeding their five-year subscriber goal in less than 12 months.

There's much less incentive for Disney to get back to operating cruises as there is for a company like NCL.

Excellent point.  Disney has much deeper pockets, and is more likely to take the conservative approach.  The other lines are likely nearing sink or swim (sail).
