Spring tree leaf out - Danube

Hi,

 

I’m planning a trip and I am wondering in what month will the leaves be out on the trees in spring in Vienna? April? May? We will be cruising the Danube, hopefully, in 2022!

I would think it varies a bit from year to year. This year is an average warm year, perhaps a little early here on the Rhine. Vienna will not be that much different, perhaps a week behind us?

 

During my river cruise I was in Vienna at the beginning of April. 2013 had a late Spring, so there was not that much in bloom yet.

 

It also depends on what you want to see. Magnolia trees are blooming now, the early cherry and fruit trees are doing well and others will come soon. For a full bloom you do need to choose an itinerary that is completely in April, probably after the 15th, but it need not be all in May.

I am trying to decide between end of April and May, up to mid month. It seems like by that time, I will have leaves!
