Bluedevil Posted February 13, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2006 DH and I have been offered free either: a 7 night cruise on Royal Caribbean Grandeur of the Seas ( balcony room) dated either: Dec 2 - 9 or Dec 16 - 23 OR a 5 night cruise on the Carnival Sensation ( ocean view room) dates either: Oct 30 - Nov 4 or Nov 4 - 9 Now I havent looked into either of these yet nor their itineraries. But if anyone has any experience with these two ships I would love to hear your opinions. Thanks for the help.

Remember...Oct-Nov you run the risk of hurricanes. Your safe in December. Plus 7nts is much better than 5nts, especially if its free. jcruise 14th cruise approaching... Bluedevil Posted February 13, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted February 13, 2006 I was kinda leaning that way. Especially with a balcony cabin (never had one). Are you familiar with the Grandeur of the Seas? Would you know where I can go to read about her? Thanks :)
Andee Posted February 13, 2006 #5 Share Posted February 13, 2006 7 days (rather than 5) Balcony (rather than window) December (rather than hurricane season) RC gets my vote!! If you post on the RC board here, you'll get lots of information.

Would you know where I can go to read about her? Thanks :) I'm very familiar with Grandeur since I've been on this class of ship before. There is nothing you won't enjoy about her. All RCCL ships are fantastic. I've cruised on many cruise lines and RCCL ranks in my top 3. Heres a link for the Grandeur: http://www.cruisecritic.com/reviews/review.cfm?ShipID=74 http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruise/ships/class/ship/home.do;jsessionid=0000BRjRZwgxGcgDse76QGscHN0:v2mocbr0?br=R&shipClassCode=VI&shipCode=GR These should help you. jcruise
captNcrunch Posted February 13, 2006 #7 Share Posted February 13, 2006 7 Days and a Balcony would clinch the deal for me! Been sailing for years during hurricane season, no problem so far so I would not let that influence my decision.
cherylandtk Posted February 13, 2006 #8 Share Posted February 13, 2006 Have not been on either ship, but for me this would be an easy choice: Grandeur OS. Longer cruise, better category of room, more ports, slightly better independant ranking of ship.
Bluedevil Posted February 13, 2006 Author #9 Share Posted February 13, 2006 Hey Thanks all. I appreciate those links too. Well if we take one I think it should be the Grandeur of the Seas. 5 nights doesn't seem long enough and sitting on my own balcony, oh WOW. Felt a little movement on the Spirit though. We had an aft cabin (rear Corner)..maybe thats why. I usually like midship. Have a wonderful time. jcruise
madelinerose Posted February 13, 2006 #11 Share Posted February 13, 2006 Haven't been on either, but no thought required for me since the Grandeur will give you the balcony - Grandeur, definitely. Free cruise - that's great! Enjoy! ;)
trish1c Posted February 14, 2006 #12 Share Posted February 14, 2006 I agree with Andee: 7 days (rather than 5)Balcony (rather than window) December (rather than hurricane season) The only thing is you didn't give details of your "free" cruise. If you won a contest you may have to pay the port taxes. If money is a concern & they are cheaper on the other cruise . . . :o , there's no shame in being economical.
