SIEBELS Posted May 3, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted May 3, 2004 The food was fantastic, service amazing, the rooms were nice, not as big as they look on the pictures, but I wasn't in it much, I was on the upper deck, balcony cabin 8b room 5192. the weather on Monday was cold and windy, but the rest of the week was hot and sunny, Port days were in the 90's Gettin on the ship, my one big disapointment, a jole, thats the only way i can describe it, no signs, lines all over, make sure you get in the right line outside the terminal, there was one big line, those who prechecked in at queen mary others were all over, finally after waiting we asked were the funpass line was, A Carnival rep said, well just your luck lets start it right here, meanwhile there are hundreds of people in different lines, lots in the wrong line. after that fiasco things went smooth, I did not let that ruin my trip, all they need is signs and some line tape to guide people, getting off was great, we had a flight before 1 pm so we got different tags and were the first group off ship back at LAX within 1 hour of getting off the ship. We got to LAX at about 10:00 but then thats when the airport mess takes over. very busy. I would highly recommend the Pride to anyone, it was a blast. Any other ??? just ask TILL THE PRIDE 04-25-04 PARTY CRUISE ECSTASY 1998
jnnifer01 Posted May 3, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 3, 2004 Hi Siebels! I hate that we all didn't connect on the ship. I ran into Rand430 in Puerto Vallarta and they said they went, but never saw anyone. Same here. My DH and I went by 2X and didn't see anyone. We ran into KC up the hall from our cabin and she said she was waiting at the other bar, because our meeting place had closed. Oh, well. Better luck next time. My DH and I had a good time, aside from the sewer smells and construction going on. Did you guys see the crazy cowboys? Any how, I plan on posting a review as soon as I have time. jquart77 Posted May 3, 2004 #8 Share Posted May 3, 2004 Siebel, Thanks for the offer. My girlfriend and I are going on our first cruise on the Pride on May 23. I know some stuff about the ship, but was wondering if you got a chance to see the cabins at the back of the boat. We are staying in a rear facing 8C cabin on the upper deck. We have been told the balconies are bigger back there, is this true? Also, what are your suggestions on what to do in the ports. JNNIFER01, any help you can give me would also be awesome..... Thanks so much, Jared
SIEBELS Posted May 3, 2004 Author #9 Share Posted May 3, 2004 Cant say much on the rear cabins, jennifer could prob help u there, as far as the ports, in PV we hired this tour guide named Abraham, older gentleman very knowledgable, took us on a five hour tour around the city, to a tequilla making factory, a great lunch at a restaraunt out in the middle of the country, food was awesome and prices werent that bad, very the place was out in the open with no walls, like a garden area, hasd a pool you could use for free wating for your food, then took us to a silver shop, quality real silver 925, prices were good and so were the margaritas they served, took us around the resort and residental areas also, wanted to go to the jungle but we wanted to shop, he took us to this flea market not too far from downtown PV great deals, and lots to choose, we had to pay for our lunch but whole tour was 125 us dollars and we tipped him 25, no bad for 5 people, take lots of film. In Mazatlan we walked around on our own and just shopped, the people dont take no for an answer when asking you to buy, they all deal but if you give them a chance they keep working you until you agree on price, most silver you could get at least a 60-70% off their asking price, but only buy silver from shops not from tables or people just hanging on to stuff. I reccomend the Blue Cafe? restaraunt past the golden zone almost to the curve, best salsa in mexico, they make it for you at the table. Defin stop at senore frogs for some fun. taxis are a treat little golf carts, 10.00 us to get to golden zone 5.00 us to get to senorefrogs, thet negotiate too. Carefull of the timeshare people they will try to get you to go to there resort and pay your taxi and 50 gift cert, beware. In Cabo my wife parasailed, very safe and very fun 40 us dollars through cabo expeditions, you take off from boat and dont get wet, Cabo Wabo is packed being there is 3 cruise ships in port at same time. We ate at the Shrimp Factory very good but pricey. Get your shopping done in PV or Mazatlan, prices are alot higher in Cabo and they dont negotiate as much. Any other specific questions you have just ask hope this helps Have fun TILL THE PRIDE 04-25-04 PARTY CRUISE ECSTASY 1998

JGB Posted May 3, 2004 #11 Share Posted May 3, 2004 We were on the 11 april sailing in cabin 7347,a wrap around balcony and it was awesome. Suprisingly very little motion, and I am motion sensative. John
jquart77 Posted May 3, 2004 #12 Share Posted May 3, 2004 Siebels, Thanks so much for the info. Great advice. Some specific questions I can think of: 1) Ant tips on the coolest place to hang out on board the Pride. 2)Did you notice if the sports bar had hockey on, I can't miss the cup finals..... 3)What are the most fun activities on board? I am toooooo excited about this cruise. I'm gonna have a blast. Thanks again for the help. SEASON187, how awesome. Congrats on the anniversary. How was your first cruise and where was it to? Must have been fun if you are going on another. Jared
kajsb Posted May 3, 2004 #13 Share Posted May 3, 2004 John, I'm glad to hear that there was not much motion on the aft cabin. We will be in wrap around 4228 on the 5/30 sailing. I bought some seasick prevention medication today but I was told that it will make me very sleep due to the heart medication that I am on. I haven't had any problems on my two prior cruises so hopefully my luck will continue. I used to be extremely motion sensitive - years ago I got sick standing on a bait dock in Marina Del Rey, CA LOL Glad that hasn't happened again. Were lounges on your balcony when you got there or did you have to have your cabin steward bring them to the balcony? season187 Posted May 3, 2004 #14 Share Posted May 3, 2004 jquart77, Thanks! Our first cruise was to Ensenada and Catalina Island last October on Carnival. That cruise was OKAY. That cruise was more of a spontanious one. We're very very very excited about this one tho because this is the one we've really been wanting to go on. What kind of excusions are you guys going to go on? we're looking at the canopy one in Vallarta, Randi's Horses in Mazatlan, and possibly snorkling in Cabo. kajsb Posted May 3, 2004 #15 Share Posted May 3, 2004 Anna, We are doing the canopy tour in PV for the 5/30 Pride. We already booked it and saved lots of money from the price I heard charged by Carnival. let me know if you would like more info. season187 Posted May 3, 2004 #16 Share Posted May 3, 2004 Kathy, Hi! I've heard there are two different Canopy tours. There's one through De Los Veranos and another through Puerto Adventures, or something like that. Which one are you doing? The one I was looking into was De Los Veranos one. Thanks Anna CCL Mexican Riviera, Our 1st Anniversary!
JGB Posted May 3, 2004 #17 Share Posted May 3, 2004 Kathy, We had 2 deck chairs that also reclined plus we had 2 lounges that were covered in a nylon type material. And one table of course.\ By the way we have taken the canopy tour that you are booked on, it was fantastic(better pump up your heart meds)joke- It would suprise me if on needed any meds for the motion in the aft cabin provided one had the usual 2/3 foot seas. If you were in a storm it probably would be different. John
kajsb Posted May 4, 2004 #18 Share Posted May 4, 2004 Anna, Our canopy tour is booked through Los Veranos. We made the reservation through PV Pam who has been extremely helpful with providing lots of information on PV. Through her, the tour is $66 if paying by CC or $59.40 if paying cash. The canopy tour when booked through Carnival is $99. I'm going as just a ride along (due to a physical disability) and they will only charge me $12. I heard through Carnival I would still have to pay $99. John, I think I'll wait to take any meds until I see how things go. I hadn't even thought of them until I heard people saying there was more motion on the aft. I'm sure I will be so relaxed that I won't even notice. I can't wait for that balcony. drush Posted May 4, 2004 #19 Share Posted May 4, 2004 SIEBELS Thanks for the update. We will sailing on 5/16 and have a couple of questions. Did you try David's and was it worth the extra charge? If so what night would you recommend? It sounds like getting on the ship was a mess. We live in southern California and will be driving to the ship should we wait a little later to board? Do you know if things calmed down and at what time? Or should we get there early? Thanks, drush
Polina Posted May 4, 2004 #20 Share Posted May 4, 2004 Thank you for posting! Others have already asked the questions I wanted to ask, lots of useful information. drush: we are also sailing 5/16 and will be driving from San Diego. We were actually thinking of doing the opposite: getting there early, by or before 11 AM, doing the early check-in and then just hanging out in port. Wondering if that would save us some waiting in line??? I'd rather sit down, relax and read a magazine than wait in line.
drush Posted May 4, 2004 #21 Share Posted May 4, 2004 Polina, I have heard that doing early check in at the Queen Mary really doesn't buy you anything. There is still great confusion around noon when everyone tries to start boarding. We would rather get there early but we don't want to wait in a line for a couple of hours. Any input from anyone else would be appreciated.
candigirl41 Posted May 4, 2004 #22 Share Posted May 4, 2004 When we went in Feb. we did the early check in and the embarkation was very smooth. I think it depends what is going on with the passengers from the previous cruise. They were a little late getting everyone off but we still started boarding around 12:00 - 12:15. SIEBELS Posted May 4, 2004 Author #23 Share Posted May 4, 2004 Jquart 1. we hung out alot in the casino bar, the lounge singer Thomas was awesome, other places of fun are the starry night for karoke, the back lido deck bar 18 and older only, beauties dance club after midnight. 2.sports bar, I'm sure you wont have any problems watching hockey, lots of tvs to choose from. 3. activities, where do I start, by far the most fun we had was the pub crawl, its a game where you go from bar to bar and have a drink and a scavinger hunt combined, you get points at each bar for having a item, or doing a shot, the first itewm was a casino chip, second item was a deck map, another one was a carnival caper, then a reciept for 4 shots, and in beauties you need a womans bra, it was a blast, 6 of us tied and we had to do a dance off in beauties, your best michael jacksin imitation, by then i had too many shots and was ready to do it, i was a mess, but i won, guess all those years of breackdancing paid off lol, the newly wed game is not one to miss also, talent show was great too, karoke was a treat every night. If you want to watch any lido deck activites, my advice get there early, 8-9 am to save yourself a seat, best seats are by the stage in the middle lido deck pool. there are also so many things gooing on you casnt imagine. the margaritas are the best blended. Davids, Dont miss out, it was amazing, worth the extra 50 per couple, food was plentiful, very good, make sure you have an appetite. we wnt tuesday night, fill up first, we made our reservations as soon as we got to our room. boarding, depending on when they clear the ship you cant get on before 12:30 or 1:00 we beat alot of people who did pre check in on queen mary. my advice, when you get to port go up to th main terminal and ask a carnival rep where does the line start. make sure your in the right line. Hope this covers everything if not just ask and i"ll try to answer Just remember to relax, drink plenty, and enjoy also take half as many clothes you thinkg you'll need and twice as much money lol TILL THE PRIDE 04-25-04 PARTY CRUISE ECSTASY 1998
