Embarkation Day Deals

New to Carnival.

Rather than pre-purchasing wifi, etc., does Carnival offer better pricing for such things on embarkation day?

Other lines we've sailed with offer select deals that are available only on embarkation day. Many of these deals are quite good so I'd hate to miss out on anything just because of not knowing what's available.

Thanks!

In my experience, Carnival does not offer any specials on embarkation day.  The better prices have been pre-purchase.  Depending on how you count it, spa services might be considered an exception--they might offer specials if you take their tour, and of course may offer specials on port days.

On a related note, they do give a free bottle of wine if you book the steakhouse the first night.

The wine will be one of their cheapest, and your waiter won't automatically tell you about it if you didn't already know.  We had to ask our waiter about it.  Then he only wanted to bring us 2 glasses instead of the full bottle.

For anyone wanting Cheers or Wifi, your best price will be pre-cruise.  You will NOT get a better price onboard.  Also, don't waste money on their wine packages.  You will be paying $100 to get like 5 bottles of stuff you can easily buy for under $5.00 in your home liquor store.

While you can get spa discounts on the ship (there's a special of the day flyer in each day's Fun Times), it's for specific treatments, so if there's something specific you want, I recommend purchasing it beforehand if you are offered a discount.

I have seen a number of people in the spa arguing with the staff about services they have pre-paid before the cruise.  I prefer booking on board.

Larger ships also have a special on embarkation day for multiple pay restaurants bought as a package.. usually 1 steak house and a combo of 2 of their other options.. they “claim” it is 12-13% discount
