First Cruise and worried about 1A cabin choice

I am sailing on Carnival Valor on 11/12/06 and I have booked a 1A single room and was wondering if anyone else has crused single in this type of cabin. I have the oppertunity switch to a guranteed room for the same price, but right now the cabin I have is in between other sleeping floors so there is no buffet or dance floor near me. What are your experices with the single rooms vs. a gurantee. I am sailing single and a twin bed is fine with me, so I may be worrying for nothing. Carnival says very little about the single rooms and I am not sure if the 1As are the same calibar as other rooms or a broom closet. Thanks!!

You will be fine in that cabin. It's just right for a single person. I had the same 1A on CCL and it was nice. Tell your cabin steward to pushhhh the two beds together and s t r e t c h o u t....:D

I'm wondering if this is the same on the Miracle. Going solo and going cheap and booked a 1A room. The deck plans don't state that the room that I have listed under my booking number have the bunks. But the picture for that class (1A) shows the bunks. I noticed that other rooms near mines show the symbol for upper/lower beds. I prefer the single twins placed as one. Got any info??

I have a 1A booked on the Cruise Critic Group Cruise on the Carnival Spirit, leaving April, 2007. My understanding is that I have the bunk bed arrangement. I think the 4As have the twin beds. Have only cruised Carnival one other time so I'm no expert! I'm thinking the bunk arrangement may actually give you more room to walk around.

The only picture I have been able to find shows a twin bed on the floor and then one on the wall. That's why I have been unsure about the room. From what I can gather it is the same square footage so I think it would actually be more room. I hope someone can answer this once and for all. :D

A year ago I was on the Holiday, Carnival's oldest ship. I had a 1A and it was all I needed. It had the bunkbed arrangement so I had a twin bed to sleep on. It was a great bed and I slept very well. Being alone, I would think you are not going to be in your cabin very much unless you are sleeping, napping, or getting dressed. I got up and went on deck to watch the sunrise, read in a quiet area of a lobby somewhere, laid out by on the deck to people watch, and spent my kids inheiritance in the casino. Thge room was more like a pitstop for me.:) From what I understand, and saw, the 1A cabins are about as roomy as a 4A, and you don't have that extra bed on the floor taking up space.

I think you will be you wll be fine in a 1A. When I go again, it will be in a 1A.

I went on my first solo cruise in January on the Liberty in a 1A cabin. It had a porthole, single bed and couch. I loved the cabin, even though there was loud noise when docking, since these cabins are in the front of the ship. I would and will be trying for the same cabin in the future. Right now I am looking to do New Zealand and Australia next year by myself. The price you can get as a solo cruiser in the 1A is well worth going.

Glad to hear these comments about the 1A cabins. I just booked a 1A for the Med cruise on Carnival Freedom in September 2007. I am going on this cruise for the PORTS and would rather spend my money on excursions and shopping than a place I will sleep.

I have always booked a 1A (but usually a guarantee in case of upgrade) and always have been happy with it. Not in the cabin that much anyway. As far as uppers and lowers, depends on the ship's class. I know the Fantasy class ships, all 1A's have upper and lower single type bedding. On the newer ships, a 1A can be anywhere from a inside cabin, outside cabin having portholes to having a regular type window. Do a search on the Carinval board and Wennfred had posted a pic of a Cat 1A cabin that had beds that converted to a big bed and also had large windows, looked very good. Not sure what ship that was on. I always cruise by myself and found Cat 1A to be the cost effective way to go.

We had booked a single 1A for our daughter when we went on the Liberty to the Med last year. She was in the first cabin on Main deck at the very front of the ship. Althought the cabin was roomy for a single there was alot of noise when docking and when cruising at night.

Our trip was still wonderful and she enjoyed all the ports but she would never book that cabin again.

The only issue I had was with the small bed, so if that is not a problem you should have no issues. OTOH, I upgraded from a 1A to a 4G under the "DP7" fare sale on Thursday. It was actually a 4A with free upgrade to 4G, but the base PPDO fare was the same. :D My solo fare went up $175 for the additional supplement, but it was worth it to me to move 8 decks up. (Plus I now have a low fare locked in for a 2nd person if I manage to find her before final payment....) ;)

This is a link to the 2-window cabin on te Valor. There are only two on the ship. 2462 and 2365. They are in the Aft sestion of the ship, behind the crew stairs. I have heard that you can't hear their noise at all. These are inadvertised cabins, and are only on the Conquest class ships. The Valor, Liberty and Freedom all have the double beds.

I had a 1A on Carnival Triumph, aft, next to the stairs - it was HUGE and two portholes! It was really better than a regular inside.

Single bed, big couch, lots of space.....

did i mention two portholes???

Ask your agent to get you a location like that! You won't be disappointed.

I cruised solo and stayed in an A1 cabin on Carnival Celebration. It was one with the bunks. I thought the room was nice. It wasn't too small at all. I had plenty of room. I am use to sleeping in a king size bed, and the twin bed didn't bother me at all.
