I turn Platinum on my next cruise as well but I'm listed as Gold on check in and my check in date is 14 days out, not 16. I haven't worried overly much, I hope I get the right pin- LOL and ideally I wouldn't mind an early check in as I'll be at the port early but I'll roll with it whatever happens in this case I guess.

You have earned your status via your loyalty.  Call guest services, ask for a supervisor and get the perks that you have earned by being able to check in 16 days prior.  Don't just roll with it, put your foot down.

I'm booked on the Horizon for the August 15th cruse. So stoked to cruise again!

It will be my first cruise as a Platinum guest, and I had a question about the early online check-in...

According to Carnival's website: "All guests will need to complete Online Check-In, which will open 14 days prior to sailing. Platinum and Diamond guests will be given two days advance access to select their preferred Arrival Appointment."

However, on the Cruise Manager page, it shows Online Check-In as being available starting on August 1st, which is 14 days prior to sailing. Shouldn't it be July 30, or am I missing something?

I'm hoping to schedule the earliest possible boarding time, to maximize our vacation!

Thanks so much if anyone has experience with this and knows the answer!

I am in the exact situation and on the same cruise!  Can’t wait!

I have Platinum on my luggage tags, but check in is 14 days prior. I contacted my PVP, included the screenshot from John Heald that said you would get the 16 day check in if you turned platinum that cruise (before he changed his story). My PVP wrote me back on July 8 with: “We just got word that you have to be Platinum prior to the cruise to get early access to check in”.

I took him at his word and thanked him for checking. It looks like some others were able to get an exception to this. But, in general, I think this is the rule.

Other perks on board should be included (laundry, casino cash, free drink, pin, gift, strawberries, etc.).

LOL- you've got a point- actually I went back and check my documents and they have been changed to Platinum at some point- so maybe the check in will as well or it'll just be accessible early. I was surprised to see it updated on my docs and luggage tags, maybe they're trying to get it sorted out. If need be I may call. This is one of the few times I'll actually be there and ready early to board.

With Carnival, your new status takes effect at the beginning of the cruise. However, during this interim time, the changes that IT made to allow Platinum & Diamonds to check in 2 days earlier can't handle your situation. Others in your position have called Carnival, explained their situation, and they did manually change their VIFP level in the system to trigger the new check-in date. It might be worth a call.

Well, this seems to have worked for a lot of people, based on the posts I've read.

Sadly, when I called I was told this was not possible under any circumstances. My travel agent also tried calling, to no avail.

Prior to March 2020 all upcoming D/P who changed their status during a cruise went on as the new level and got every perk. Unless theres been a change now you should be able to also. You have the luggage tags. Call Carnival and speak to someone else.
