How did you like it? what kind of requests did you have for the genie?

Love having a Genie.  He/she takes care of everything for you.  They provide you with a personal escort on and off the ship, reserve whichever seats you prefer for entertainment events and take care of any issues you have during the cruise.  If you want Starbucks delivered to your suite every morning at 8:00, they make sure that happens.  If you want to go up in NorthStar every morning, they get you there.  Would you like to have a private tour of Central Park with the Horticulturist on board to see behind the scenes ?  Would you like a private party in your suite for as many passengers as you would like to invite ?  What kind of drinks do you prefer ?  They will be in your suite when you arrive and they will be replenished every day.  Celebrating a birthday or Anniversary while on board ?  The Genie will make it extra special for you.  If you want a cabana on Labadee, the Genie will make sure you (and other SC pax) get the cabana of your choice as SC gets to pick first.  That is not true of cabanas on PDCC….the Genie has no influence on those cabanas.

SC is very special and I love going SC whenever I can.

We are a very laid back couple - and I truly loved  going SC and really enjoyed our Genie.  It was the little things - making sure we had our choice of specialty restaurants at the times we wanted and the best seats in the restaurant, seating for the shows were reserved and drinks waiting for us, constantly checking to make sure we were having a fabulous vacation.  He seemed to have a GPS to track us down on ship to check in with us....truly an amazing experience.

Just like having a good Travel Agent, having a Genie is most valuable when things do NOT go according to plan.

[I have told this story many times so forgive me for the repeat].

In Feb 2019 we were on B2B SC cruises out of Bayonne on Anthem.  Our Genie was Yen Lee - exceptional Genie.  When we got to Port Canaveral for a port visit on leg #2, we got off the ship and went into town to conduct some business.  When we got back, we found the terminal overflowing with passengers - some were in swim suits.  It seems that there was an incident (unnecessary to go into what happened) that required everyone - including staff - to leave the ship.  It was a madhouse.  ...and apparently everyone had been waiting for a LONG time; tempers were beginning to flare.  Nowhere to sit...it was very unpleasant.  Since we were in the US, we realized that we could just call Yen on her Genie-phone, which we did.  In less than 5 minutes, we spotted Yen coming down the escalator and somehow managed to get her attention.  She grabbed us and whisked us out of the madhouse onto the ship.  She said, "stay right behind me and don't stop".  She might weigh 90 pounds but she bulldozed through that crowd like a 290 pound linebacker.  It was probably 30 or 40 minutes before the "all clear" was announced and the rest of the pax were allowed to reboard.  BOY was I glad that we had a way to get onto the ship without all the waiting.

One thing to remember about Genies.  They are all just people !!  Each one has their strengths and weaknesses and nobody's SC experience is ever the same.  "Rules" vary between ships so some things are allowed on one ship but not on another.   A good example of this is the Starbucks delivery rule.  Some ships allow Starbuck's suite delivery and some do not.  Some rules have changed since the program began.  For example, SC guests used to get unlimited use of the Thermal Spa but now they are limited to 1 visit.  Some Genies are extraordinary party planners and some are far better with the "personal" stuff.  So, my warning is....do not depend upon others' experiences to determine what your experience will be.  I've had many different Genie and they've all been excellent....but not the same as each other...which makes it awesome !
