So Carnival changed our Horizon Sept Itinerary. They took away Ocho Rios and Grand Cayman and replaced with Bimini and Half Moon Cay. I am alright with the change as we Love HMC but never been to Bimini. Anyone been to Bimini that can give a couple of highlights please.

Do you have a link for the update?  I think your on the same (9/12) sailing as me & still see the original ports in a mock booking.  Tht

Yes same sailing. sign into your carnival account and your Planner should reflect the update. Just saw mine today.

Ok. So I guess technically, I was on the first cruise to make port there. Uh, the island is small. When we made port, there was multiple cars that said Covid-19 unit on the side. However, the place is underdeveloped, so if that’s your thing, you’ll be happy. They have like a kinda sort big complex that is a “resort” a bit aways from the pier. It had a tiny little casino and not much else. The beach was pretty standard, not a whole lot to it, but it was a Bahamian beach, so pretty water and decent sand. Just don’t expect a whole lot.

Thanks for the info so the ship docked no water shuttles? Looks online like a beach day. No shopping to be had other then the "resort"?

We tendered in HMC(Half Moon Cay) and that was it. Bimini had a pier we docked at. And there is not “tourist village” type area for shopping. Now, it may change in the future, because this caught the island a little off guard when we made port there. But most things were closed or just straight up for locals(which is never a bad thing) but really there wasnt a whole lot.

No water shuttles. Docked at a Pier. As far as I could tell, not a whole lot of shopping.

May I ask how you were notified and when you are sailing in Sept?  We just switched to a cruise in Sept on Horizon and have not seen anything saying our itinerary was changed.

So, just went to my itinerary for Sept 12th and us too!  NO notification just checked because of your post, thank you!  Would have been nice to get an email.

Ours says and Amber Cove... I swear that was supposed to be Cozumel

Our Sunrise cruise was just changed as well, though it was expected.  No excursions are listed yet. Were there any excursions when you went? Can you just walk to the beach?

There was maybe 6 excursions listed for Bimini when we set sail and those same excursions persisted until we made port there. Not sure about just walking the beach, I’m going to say no. They had things very lock and key. When we arrived there was about 6 Covid response “units” there at the pier. There was also a major delay in debarkation for those with excursions booked. About three hours later after we made port, people were allowed to walk down and do their own thing.

Sept 25th of the Sunrise, and I just checked my planner and sure as the world Grand Turk was bumped and Bimini in its place. Guess we will hang on the beach that day and just take it easy.

We are on that same cruise.  Have been expecting the change since the Turks and Caicos website government site says that they are closed to cruise ships until at least September 30.  When I checked my planner earlier this afternoon, Grand Turk was still listed, so it just got changed in the last couple of hours.  Hoping for a good beach there as well.

Yes DW and i are on the Sept 12th Horizon sailing. True Cozumel was also replaced by Amber Cove. We did a great zip line tour in Amber Cove 3 yrs ago. Very much looking forward to this cruise. IN CASE YOU ALSO MISSED IT YOU NEED TO DO YOUR COVID-19 VACCINE QUESTION IN YOUR CRUISE BOOKING

It looks like the mock bookings are being updated now too (at least for both Horizon 6 day trips).  Hopefully not too long before excursions are available related to those.  In the meantime, I’m off to the Caribbean ports board to look more into 3 new stops for me.

IN CASE YOU ALSO MISSED IT YOU NEED TO DO YOUR COVID-19 VACCINE QUESTION IN YOUR CRUISE BOOKING Yes Bimini will be new to us. Love HMC See you on the ship coming down from Boston
