NA returning to Ketchikan with medical emergency

Captain just came on PA and announced we are returning to Ketchikan due to a medical emergency beyond the ships capabilities. Details to follow about disembarkation plans but they are in touch with the coast guard. Did not say anything about if it is Covid related or not.

She looks to be about 90 minutes out. It does not appear that a Coast Guard vessel with a locator has been deployed.

Update USCG will be sending a vessel to us to disembark the passenger.

So sorry to see this happen.  The 2nd voyage (ours) had the tragic float plane accident.  The captain has had more than his share of unsettling announcements since cruising resumed.  Prayers for the individual.

We were heading to the Crow’s Nest and I noticed that the ship was turning. I thought it might be a turn in the channel but soon after the captain came on to announce we were turning back. It was less than two hours after our departure
