gracecarmo Posted February 18, 2006 #27 Share Posted February 18, 2006 Two eggs over easy, sausage, bacon, hash browns, and a thick slice of the home made pumpernickel bread toasted with a slab of butter. Orange juice and coffee. And occasionally the eggs benedict. My pure indulgence on X. I love breakfast Of course all of the above mentioned too. smilin47 Posted February 18, 2006 #29 Share Posted February 18, 2006 Argentinean Churrasco Steak served with Chimichurri Sauce, cooked medium. When our waiter, Joel, told us that the Summit had revised their menu, I made him go and look to see if "my" steak was still on there ... fortunately for me, it was. :D It was served on the second Thursday of our 14 night cruise. The cold soups ... Spicy Gazpacho, Chilled Berry, even the spiced Tomato ... were delicious. I love the turned down beds at night, especially since Albino always put the extra blanket on my bed! Even the themed buffets were excellent, except perhaps the one with the marinated octopus salad. LOL. Just couldn't do it.
Andy Posted February 18, 2006 #30 Share Posted February 18, 2006 Exhibit A. Mmmm, chocolate. Hi Phil ! I forget what the dessert in your photo is called, but it is awesome. I have had it many times. That one, and the Mohr em end (sp?) are 2 of my favorites.
Andy Posted February 18, 2006 #31 Share Posted February 18, 2006 Hi Everyone ! Some things I enjoy on my Cruise.... The anticipation a few weeks before my sailing. The wonderful Staff on the ships, and their incredible attitude. I very much enjoy making many new friends on my Cruises. A wonderful day sitting on a Lounge Chair, and doing absolutely nothing ! Spending time with the Officers and Staff, and hearing their experiences of life at sea. The Chocolate Croissants....somebody, PLEASE keep me away from them :) Shrimp Cocktail(s). Enough said ! For Breakfast, smoked salmon and a bagel, or those awesome waffles. Having a Great meal in the Dining Room.. especially Rack of Lamb or Filet Mignon. The great desserts, and the chilled soups. Walking around each island, and learning all about their history. Watching the sunset from my balcony. Watching a show in the theater, featuring the Celebrity Singers and Dancers. And last but not least, making a nice donation at the Casino every night :)
Ocean Sailor Posted February 18, 2006 #32 Share Posted February 18, 2006 Being on a ship with its gentle sway The smell of the ocean Waking up to a tray of coffee and indulgent treats being delivered to the veranda Spending quiet time alone with my husband Spending quiet time by myself Having waiters offer dining suggestions and finding new favorite foods Clean crisp sheets and fluffy towels that I did not launder or fold Having someone who really knows how to make a bed - Ironed sheets! Early morning as the ship makes landfall Quiet dinners at a table for two Not feeling guilty about having desert The laundry service - I love the laundry service Long sunny days spent reading a good book Dancing on deck at night even without music... dmk Posted February 18, 2006 Author #33 Share Posted February 18, 2006 There are some lovely thoughts here. Celebrity would do well to incorporate them into one of their brochures or commercials.:)
slotaddict Posted February 18, 2006 #34 Share Posted February 18, 2006 Ok, the service waffles, apple martinis, waffles, the little perks for the Captains Club members, the waffles, the apple martinis, and my very best favorite of all Creme Brulee at least three times during the week. deeva211 Posted February 18, 2006 #37 Share Posted February 18, 2006 Okay, I have a dumb question that I have wanted to ask for years. People always talk about the chocolate croissant. I have been on 10 X cruises and have never seen one. I have visited the Cova many time looking for one. Is this croissant shaped?? or is it just the rectagular pastry with the chocolate in the middle? I would love to find one in March.
Linda-E Posted February 18, 2006 #38 Share Posted February 18, 2006 Room service breakfast. Dinner in the specialty restaurant. Watching the sunset and scenery from our veranda. Crepes suzette. Chocolate desserts. A relaxing massage in the AqueSpa. Meeting Cruise Critic friends in person! I agree with Bill; the worst part is getting off! Is this croissant shaped?? or is it just the rectagular pastry with the chocolate in the middle? I would love to find one in March. You can find them many mornings at the breakfast buffet. They're rectangular pastries with (often) a little telltale blivit of chocolate on one end. There are a couple of others of the same shape that can fool you -- ask what they are or you may wind up with a dark fruit filling instead. They often don't last long, so if you show up late for breakfast, you'll probably not get one.
tomatopa Posted February 18, 2006 #40 Share Posted February 18, 2006 the fresh fruit...especially a bowl of berries at dinner...or anything made with the black berries. the creme brulee...especially warm....the summit had the best desserts. I also liked the bowl of crumbled blue cheese for our salads that Augus brought us every night at dinner....i really enjoyed reading everyone's favorites and could remember my cruise....thought the T-pool was wonderful and the padded deck chairs and the nice size bathrooms....Judy

Rare uktog Posted February 18, 2006 #44 Share Posted February 18, 2006 What a brilliant thread I love the warm buzzy feel I get when I first see the ship the tingling excitement as we do the paperwork to geton board (because by then I know we are here, we are going aboard, the hassle of travel is over, folks are going to take care of me and the fun is going to start) just being pampered being remembered by staff from previous trips having our likes immediately remembered by the current staff those three toots from the funnel as we sail away sitting down to eat and not have to think about a thing (except what to order) NO PHONES RINGING! relaxing and enjoying a show Martinis - different ones every night and I am always addressed by name in the Martini Bar from Night 2 Finding lovely places to curl up with a book Everyone smiles - even the dear attendant who is always polishing the stairs - oh and the lovely "deckhands" at the tenders breakfast on the balcony baked bananas goats cheese souflle lobster veloute rack of lamb *tummy rumbles sorry* oh and best of all, waking up somewhere different everyday but no hassle getting there and  I still have 3 months to go before I get all this
FLOURTOWN Posted February 18, 2006 #45 Share Posted February 18, 2006 Maybe I missed it but another thing which is great is not being ASSIGNED a pool or beach towel. Guard it with your life, loose it you'll pay.
donnaw Posted February 18, 2006 #46 Share Posted February 18, 2006 I made a promise to myself (thank goodness it wasn't out loud) that I would not book anything until I lost the extra 15 lbs. that came home from Galaxy, Century and MSC! Reading this thread may force me to re-evaluate that (along with the -9 currently on the outdoor thermometer)! The first night Prime Rib - on our experience - X is the only cruiseline that does this one right! The ceasar salad station The Sushi Bar The chocolate buffet Cova chocolates The little brownies on the midnight bites trays Eggs Benedict and lox and bagels in the dining room Creme Brulee every night Having a waiter who can made excellent suggestions from the 3rd night on and occasionally even on the second night. Sitting on the aft deck behind the buffet with a cup of coffee or glass of wine and watching people and the wake of the ship Getting together with CC friends from all over the country and sometimes the world Watching the faces of those new to X when they see the first sorbet parade The entire X staff that will go out of their way to keep you happy Next, time to start checking itineraries! bonbon663 Posted February 20, 2006 #47 Share Posted February 20, 2006 I'm so glad to read this thread, and reading all the depressing posts about how bad Celebrity is, it makes me very apprehensive about cruising. I'm going on my first cruise in July to Alaska, and all I can seem to find is people complaining about every little thing. This thread is a breath of fresh air....Thank you.:)
newmexicoNita Posted February 20, 2006 #48 Share Posted February 20, 2006 I'm so glad to read this thread, and reading all the depressing posts about how bad Celebrity is, it makes me very apprehensive about cruising. I'm going on my first cruise in July to Alaska, and all I can seem to find is people complaining about every little thing. This thread is a breath of fresh air....Thank you.:) Some people just love to complain and set their standards just too high. You will love cruising. Some of the complainers are those who feel Celebrity isn't as good a line as it used to be: could be, but it still is a wonderful cruiseline; all cruising has changed in the past few years, just read the thread that talks about the changes. Have a great time: My favorite things: dining room meats; yum, yum: breakfast buffet especially the waffles casino itineraries some of the appitizers, sorry to many of you: food is subjective but I think the escargot is the worst I have ever had. cabin steward service clean ships
