Snorkeling at the beach where the chair lift goes

The chairlift and beach are part of the Mahogany Bay cruise port which is owned by Carnival.

I have never been there, from past posts I understand there is some snorkeling to be had it the far end near a pier.

Roatan can boast some of the best snorkeling in the Caribbean, most of that is located on the other side of the island.  The easiest to access reef snorkeling is literally steps from the sand in West Bay.  If snorkeling is the primary goal then West Bay is the answer.

As Guest 2000 pointed out, there is some snorkeling at Mahogany Bay beach if you walk down to the small pier by the breakwater.  The water is calm, shallow and unless there is storm runoff, pretty clear.  There isn't a lot to be seen though.  Ship sponsored snorkeling excursions that go to the northeast side above French harbor or to West Bay would be the preferred way to take advantage of Roatan's great snorkeling venues.
