Hi

Im looking for a cruise from Southampton to the Med or Northern Europe. This will be my first cruise so any tips would be welcome. Something affordable, under £600 per person, up to 7 nights.   Thanks all

You won't get to the Med and back in 7 days, so you can scratch that off your list.

Are you travelling alone ? I think you will need to up your budget by 50% or so.

We like a 7 night Norwegian Fjords cruises, from Southampton.

Some lines offer a 7 Night Spain & France cruise.

Princess offer a 7-Day Scandinavia cruise (https://www.princess.com/cruise-search/details?voyageCode=Y217)

It might help if you could give us a clue as to what your family dynamic will be; If you are cruising with children consider Royal Caribbean; If there are only adults cruising consider Celebrity (as they say on the BBC other lines are available). Some P&O ships are more geared to children than other P&O ships.

I think you'll struggle to find a 7 day/night cruise for £600, usually you allow £100 per night/day.

There are seven day and shorter cruises to northern spain, fjords of norway and some of the Northern european ports, Amsterdam, Belgium, Le Havre, France and channel islands which might suit.

The Med is defo a 14 day+ from Southampton for 7 days you would have to look at a Fly-cruise, our first cruise was with Marella(Tui) but even 7 nts cruises started at £900+ all inclusive for lowest grade of cabin.

With your budget you may be best looking at a shorter 4 or 5nt cruise around ports on the Channel and get a feel for cruising that way.

Your best bet would probably be P&O cruises on the ship Iona to Norway. She is a large ship and tends to have more 'offers', especially via some of the big cruise specialist travel agents that we are not allowed to mention on CC. The price will include tips and all food in standard restaurants but drinks are extra, as are some of the speciality restaurants.

Might also be worth looking at MSC Cruises but I don't know what itineraries they are offering.
