Yes, you are wrong as you suspected. Read the earlier posts. Several ships now have an additional smaller casino on a different deck which is smoke free. So far we have Breeze, Magic and Dream. Was just wondering about other ships, Carnival in particular , but info on any other lines is also welcome of course.

Breeze, Dream and Magic are the only ones so far, I hope to see this on all the ships! Just got back on Saturday on the Vista. Friends who had cruised in August said there was very little smoke in the casino. That wasn't true on our cruise, I thought the smoke was worse than ever, even with a mask on some areas were just unbearable. Supposedly Carnival had installed improved ventilation systems in the casinos. Very few slot machines were marked as non-smoking. We reeked of smoke every night when we went back to our cabin, our hair and clothes smelled awful. I know smokers are vociferous about their right to smoke and think they are in the majority of passengers, but I don't think they are. Everyone was supposed to be wearing a mask in the casino. One of the casino hosts told me I should be wearing my mask, I showed him I had a drink. He said the rule was "sip and cover" - only have the mask off to take a drink, them back on. However, the smokers were not wearing their masks the whole time they were smoking, not just when taking a puff, and most of them were chain smoking. I wish Carnival would be more accommodating to the non-smokers who are also spending a lot of money in the casinos! I sent an email to the Casino Players Club asking what the percentage of slot machines on the Vista are marked as non-smoking, waiting to hear back from them. I think the percentage is going to be very small.

A couple of months ago, on Princess, masks were required in the casino. There was a maskless drunk man yelling for an hour at the craps table and no one said a word to him. He didn't even have a mask in sight. Smokers had to be playing to let their masks down to smoke. Nope! They walked around smoking and spouses stood behind the playing spouse and smoked, which was supposed to be prohibited (once even in the non-smoking area). It was hard getting away from smoke.

All I'm saying is the mask rules are a joke in the casino and if you go in there, you'll have to put up with smoke no matter where you are in there. And, they seem to place the machines no one wants to play in the non-smoking area.

I would love a separate non-smoking room.

Just off the Pride (twice) and the chimney is gone.  Most tables are non-smoking and the smokers tend to cough in the middle of their complaining.  I am grateful to Carnival for taking better care of its' cruisers AND EMPLOYEES - who used to breath in clouds of second-hand, cancer-causing smoke all day long.  It used to be my daughter insisted I wrap my clothes in plastic bags when I came back from the casino.  I'm a non-smoker.  This cruise she even joined me in the casino and lost $400 of my money!  Otherwise it would have been win-win!

Any others?

It would be good to have an up to date list.

I maybe wrong, but my wife and I were on the Mardi Gras Sept 11-18 and I 'think' I heard her say that the new MG had a no smoking casino (She's a reformed smoker, been smoke free for 5 years while I have NEVER smoked but I don't go to the casino either) Maybe someone who's been on the new MG can verify this about the NS casino ?

MG has a smoking casino and a non smoking casino. Kind of like cut in half but no crossover between the two. It is very nice for non smokers because even though I don’t gamble you pass through the casino to reach the theater on the ship. It’s nice to be able to do so without a haze of smoke.

Mostly true. But on the MG. one can walk through the shops adjacent to the casino and access the theater that way as well. You can walk through the casino as above, but you can also walk just outside of it.

There are even doors to go through at some points for entry/exit to the casino that manage to separate the casino area from the general public areas..

If you are interested in truly smoke free casinos, Celebrity has had them for quite some time now.  We don't gamble or smoke, but it is nice to be able to walk near the casino without all the smell.  On several other ships, we go out of our way to avoid walking near the casino.

Disregard my post above, I wrote about the Celebrity Edge which we were just on, and not the MG, which we were on in Sept.  I apologize for mixing up the ships, maybe a senile moment?

We were on the Dream on Oct  3rd - there is a small smoke free casino on a lower level -separate from the main casino - but it is not very good - the main casino slots are better - ( we are not smokers ) WE played in the main casino on nonsmoking machines and there was very little smoke. the staff was very conscious of reminding people to put their masks on their face not their neck so it was good.

We are going on the Vista next week - I hope it is the same. The last time we were on the Vista was two years ago and the smoke was so bad I had to put a towel over my face to play the slots.....then I took my Vicks inhaler with me....finally just gave up and we love to play the slots.

Thank you. I will be interested to hear about the Vista, as we are planning a cruise on that ship much later next year.

Although the extra casino has fewer machines and tables, it is still far better than any smoke. Our experience on the Breeze last week was similar to yours. The main casino was better than on previous cruises but still not good for people like me with allergies to cigarette smoke, let alone the smell of smoke that lingers on your clothes.

Since non-smokers greatly out number smokers these days, maybe the casinos will be reversed and the large one will be non-smoking eventually!

Sorry to disappoint you - we just got off the Vista Saturday, we spend a lot of time in the casino, are not smokers. Had friends who cruised in August, said there was very little smoke in casino. Things have since changed. I thought the smoke was worse now than it used to be, smokers were not told to put on their masks, crowds of smokers around table games, not playing and no masks. Had heard Carnival had installed good ventilation systems, no sign of that. I was told to put my mask on, said I had a drink, was told to "sip and cover" - smokers were not told to "puff and cover" - very few non-smoking machines, mainly ones no one wanted to play. Some areas were just unbearable. When is Carnival going to totally ban smoking in the casinos? They say they're concerned about passengers' health but apparently not in the casinos. I emailed Casino Players Club about how many of the slots on Vista are non-smoking and was given a vague answer that they didn't know, that's determined by each ship by Carnival. I bet if I asked Carnival I'd be told that was up to Casino Players Club! I have six cruises booked for next year - I'm buying a small handheld battery powered fan to take to the casino and point at where and who the smoke is coming from. I'll probably get to check out the medical facilities when some rabid smoker takes offense.

OH, no!!! That is not good news....i will definitely take my jar of Vicks to smell and my towel along with my mask....I am willing to go complain to the casino staff about the non players smoking, etc.....

Thanks for your update. I hope next week is better.
