Mexican Riviera excursions

Two weeks away from our cruise!  Normally, we would book our own excursions in port, but since cruising is a bit different now should we stick to ship excursions?   For those who have recently cruised, is it safe to book a catamaran port excursion or take a water taxi on our own?

I hope you have a fantastic cruise! I am going in 1 week and am doing all ship excursions, but we usually do that. Right now especially I like the idea of having a bubble with people from the ship, though I know some of the boat tours combine with other cruise lines at times. I am sure there will be vendors selling tours in all of the ports. I will try to report back week after next when I am onboard.

@Cruzmama are you looking for suggestions?  We did the Mexican Riviera in March 2020, and in Puerto Vallarta did the excursion to San Sebastian.  I see it is still offered post-COVID, and I can highly recommend it.  When we did the tour, it was a small group of around 12 people, all from our cruise.  We stopped at a local tequila distillery, had lunch, stopped at a coffee plantation, and then to San Sebastian.  We had a great time, and would highly recommend it.
