NavyCruiser Posted November 8, 2021 #1 Share Posted November 8, 2021 At the end of our Viking GE river cruise at end of month, We'll be flying from Budapest to London UK to visit family for 2 days, 48 hours & 5 minutes to be exact, or landing LHR at 9:20 am, & depart LHR back to the US at 9:25 am 2 days later. Viking will provide us with PCR test on last day (or next to last day), so think we're good as per US' 3 days' testing requirements. Does anyone knows if we need to do the UK's day 2 test requirement, before we head back to LHR airport for our British Air flight back to the US 2 days later...? Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted November 8, 2021 #2 Share Posted November 8, 2021 There is an exemption for passengers 'in transit' but you will be leaving the airport and staying beyond the 24-hour guideline so I don't think you can use that. Otherwise, my understanding is that you need a 2-day test registration number to fill out the UK Passenger Locator Form. [We had this situation on our trip in September, when the type of test for the 2-day requirement was even more stringent. We bought kits from Azova [Delta's preferred provider] before leaving the US and carried them with us to do in our UK hotel on day 2 – even though we were leaving the UK on day 3, which was a Sunday so the tests were not examined by then...]
NavyCruiser Posted November 9, 2021 Author #3 Share Posted November 9, 2021 Thanks for the confirmation, Jazzbeau. Yes, our son-in-law bought the day 2 UK arrivals testing kit for us. Hopefully, with the US re-opening up to international travelers, things will get back to normal without all the daily testing requirements...
