Dining Room Seating

When we were on the Queen, your dining room table for dinner was assigned by the Maitre D and you were notified of the number at the check in hotel.  On the Empress it was open seating although you were asked to sit at the same table that you had on the first night for subsequent nights.  We have a cruise coming up next year on the Countess and just curious how they handle dinner seating.

I've been told seating is assigned not open at this time.

On the Duchess last August, we were taken to a table for four on the first night. Stayed there the whole two weeks. The table was fine so, didn't bother asking for another or changing our meal time.

 

Half way through, the other couple was gone (that is another story of which we knew few details that we got from the wait staff. Basically, "asked" to leave the boat) so we had the table to ourselves. Turns out, that was our waiter's only table so, she only had the two of us for most of the cruise - great service!

In September on the Countess, the table you had the first night was your table for dinner the entire week. Likewise for the Queen.
