imahistorygeek Posted November 18, 2021 #1 Share Posted November 18, 2021 A few weeks ago, I read on VV's website we needed to arrive an hour before our 2:00 pm arrival time slot. Now I'm reading on VV's website that I need to be there AT my arrival time slot. Either way is fine, I just want to make sure we arrive when we're supposed to arrive. bjt3 Posted November 18, 2021 #2 Share Posted November 18, 2021 I suspect either is fine. We showed up at 2pm with no issues.
imahistorygeek Posted November 19, 2021 Author #3 Share Posted November 19, 2021 Update - The chat function was actually working this morning and it took about 15 minutes to connect. I specifically asked about embarkation and arrival time. This was the response. This refers to the language in the app. Sailor Services Crew: Okay so we are currently transitioning to "arrival time" and you should arrive at your exact arrival time. Sailor Services Crew: Previously it was "embarkation time" and you needed to arrive an hour prior.
sellwingri Posted November 20, 2021 #4 Share Posted November 20, 2021 This really makes it difficult for those of us who stay at a hotel the night before. With an earliest check in time of 2pm, not sure what we’ll do for then 2 hours before. Not customer friendly.

Agree - most peeps who don't live in FL usually come in the night before, more so now because of all the issues with airline staff shortages and flight changes. All other cruise lines we have been on out of MIA and FLL allowed for noon arrival at the pier and typically checked-in and in the cabin by 1:00. If not, you can always leave your bags at the hotel and either hang on property or explore Miami for a few hours.

Thanks but I’ve been to Miami before a cruise probably at least 25 times (not a fan) and most hotels charge for late check out. There’s so many things I don’t like about Virgin before I even board. However the ability to stay in your cabin until well after 10am on disembarkation day instead of being expected to leave by 8 is customer friendly IMHO. YMMV.
sellwingri Posted November 23, 2021 #9 Share Posted November 23, 2021 My flight leaves at 11:30 so I won’t be able to stay in my room. I’d much rather board at a reasonable time.
Back to school Posted November 24, 2021 #10 Share Posted November 24, 2021 Good flight schedule, landing Miami 1:00 PM, NO hotel, Embarking 2:00 PM. Last day cruise, entertainment late party, no early wake up, relaxing morning. Disembarkation 11:00 AM. Miami flight 2:00 PM. The worst cruise experience early disembarking. Virgin was right, that’s customer friendly!
Rare sid_9169 Posted November 24, 2021 #11 Share Posted November 24, 2021 I'll have to admit that I was dubious of the later boarding time, but I appreciated being able to have a leisurely debarkation, and enjoy breakfast and my last bit of time on the ship...
WanderlustJourney Posted November 26, 2021 #12 Share Posted November 26, 2021 I'm also very confused by this as my "Arrival Time" for my cruise in a couple weeks is 11:45am? However, as most mentioned they don't start boarding the ship until 2:00pm?
CroozFanatic Posted November 26, 2021 #13 Share Posted November 26, 2021 VV has changed the boarding/arrival times available in the app. I took the earliest time...also 11:45am. Not sure if they are boarding before 2pm or not.

Lurdes777 Posted November 29, 2021 #15 Share Posted November 29, 2021 The earliest I saw in app is 1:45PM. Does this mean earlier times not available any longer?
