How do I get the rum home?

I'm wanting to get some rum for by BIL for Xmas while on a cruise that has a stop in Puerto Rico.  Ordinarily, I would pack it in my checked luggage for the trip home.  However, I am using a luggage forwarding (i.e., shipping) service and they do not allow Alcohol to be shipped in your suitcase.

If I'm able to purchase it duty-free, then I can just carry it on the plane (per the TSA).  Is there a duty-free shop at the port?

Does any have any suggestions on how to get the rum home (within TSA rules and not going against the shipping companies rules, that is)?

Huge Duty Free concessions at all SJ Airport departure terminals.

There are concessions at both ports, but the selection is not large.  Mostly tourist commercial

Cruise ships and Du-Free shops at ports will give you a carry-all cardboard container.

But for TSA you need to use checked baggage.  I suggest you buy or bring a small carry--on size hard cased bag.  Put the UN opened Rum in that 9in the carton is it fits) and stuff a bunch of dirty clothes in the case, then just check it at the airport for your flight home.
