I have read several post where people have taken a taxi to West Bay Beach and how it is the Best Place to Snorkel - How much trouble did you have getting a taxi back to the ship??

We leave tomorrow for your 5/14/06 cruise on the Valor.

This may be a little late for the OP but it might help others going there. Roatan is breathtaking! We had one of our best excursions there - Dolphin Encounter and Tabyana Beach snorkel. The cove for the dolphin encounter was itself a treat, and our family of 5 had our own dolphin, Annie. You are standing in the shallow shore waters and the whole experience was videotaped for you. Then, Tabyana Beach is one of the easiest places to snorkel I have ever been to (and we have done many, many snorkeling excursions).

My fiance and I are scuba divers and we want to do the dolphin dive when we visit Roatan. The excursion through Carnival is booked already and we know where to go to do the excursion outside of Carnival's booking, just wondering if anyone has done this? I don't know if they will let us reserve the dive before we actually get to the island. This is our first cruise, so I am not sure the best way to do this. Any tips?

We just got back from Roatan and the very best excusion in my opinion, that is if you like going on small boats and snorkling is the Jolly Roger. We were able to me the captain, he picked us up at the pier took us in a nice van to the 70 person catamarin and then took us on a nice harbor tour, and on to our snorkle site which was near flower bay. We snorkled for a couple of hours, then a bell rang and we had a wonderful chicken, mashed potaotes, coleslaw dinner. They served drinks and beer. AFter that we were taken around the point past Tabyana beach and to Gumbalimba nature park where we disimbarked and saw beautiful flowers, plants, waterfalls, birds, and we got to play and hold white faced and spider monkeys! AFter this wonderful tour then we loaded back in the van for a ride over the hills and through the countryside of Roatan and then back to the ship. There was enough time to shop for 2 hours as well. The best time we had on our cruise!!! :p

Do you mind if I ask about how much your excursion cost, and if you booked it through the ship in advance?

You have some how managed to retrieve a thread from 2006 and are asking a question from a poster who only ever posted twice (at least under that name)!

I haven't done this excursion so can't really help but would suggest you Google Jolly Roger Roatan for more up to date information.
