MGM: MLife/MGM Rewards Downgrade for Royal Caribbean

MGM's new casino program, MGM Rewards, begins February 1st and will have changes for Status Match, with Crown & Anchor.

Currently, all Diamond Plus & Pinnacles are Status Matched to Platinum MLife Status.  Under the new program, Emerald & above

only get to Gold Card status.

Platinum didn’t get you much several years back when we stayed at an MGM property.  The perks were mostly meaningless.   There were a few that were ok, but nothing to plan a trip around that is for sure.  Admittedly, that was probably 6 years ago now.

While yes now the status match is only to Gold MGM Rewards the good and better news is that Gold gets resort fees waived, so actually if you look at it that way it's actually better than before. Previously Platinum didn't get Resort Fees waived automatically, in fact even on comped room offers with free rooms, freeplay and Resort Credit Resort Fees weren't automatically waived for Platinum tier, it was dependent on your past play.

If you go to a casino, how will they know you are platinum at RC?  What do you have to show?

I am Diamond with RC and not platinum as my previous post.  So how will they know that I am Diamond?

We used to get complimentary valet parking for Platinum (not including gratuity). It looks like you now only get complimentary self parking.

You go to the Mlife desk and show them. Just pull it up on your app.

I emailed a copy of my RCL status before I arrived for my reservation and they had it in the system and ready to go before I got there.  Just gave them my DL and picked up my Gold card.

I have had the Platinum tier match for several years and never really saw much benefit as I am not a very big gambler. Though will now qualify for Gold I see the waiver of resort fees the major improvement. This change will screw up my tier match with the Caesars properties though.

UGH.  This was the only Platinum perk I ever used.  Sucks that it's not included any longer

How did you get RC to email you a copy of your status?

Are you sure Gold tier isn't allowed into the Lounge? At Borgata Casino in Atlantic City the Amphora Players Club Lounge is open for Gold and higher.

Also, this means that myVegas awards are now resort-fee free, for Gold cardholders!

Thanks to all the CC members that gave me such great advice.  I called the Mlife member rewards at 866-791-7111.  It took 20 minutes on hold but the Mlife agent was able to upgrade myself and my husband to GOLD after 20 minutes with her.  We are both Diamond on RC.  We mainly visit the Borgata because we live in NJ.  May go to Vegas again when we feel safe to travel by air,

Remember that myVegas has comped night rewards for Borgota (now Resort Fee free).

I just took a screenshot of my "Upcoming Cruises" page on Royal Caribbean's website and sent that to them.  It has my level and my C&A number.  They took that with no issues.

When everything was taken care of by the member rewards agent (see my post above), I received the emails for me and my DH that we were now Gold with Mlife.  All taken care of with just a phone call.

I just received my first ever offer from MLife for a complimentary 4 night stay at MGM Vegas.  It is still showing me as Platinum.  We aren’t interested in flying to Vegas so we won’t be using the offer but I was shocked to get it and surprised to see they’re still showing me with Platinum status.  Things must be very slow in Vegas !
