Celiacs (Gluten Allergy) on Allure

Recommended Posts

We are hopefully sailing in March and wondering if any one had Celiacs and how were the options when dining?  We booked the unlimited specialty dining package and it seems that there were Gluten Free options on the menu but would love to hear about others experiences.

I’ve had traveling companions in the past with gluten sensitivity - Generally, you wait staff will ask (at MDR and Specialty venues) if there are any allergies they need to be aware of and are very conscious of not cross-contaminating. When you are in the MDR, you will be provided the GF menu for the following day’s dinner the evening before and make your selection then. Generally all of the venues are very friendly toward gluten allergies, so you should have no problem! Generally even the Windjammer has a plentiful gluten-free selection.

Our daughter has celiac and has sailed with us on Royal. No issues at all, they bent over backwards to ensure she had gluten free food. Even if you go to the buffet, you can ask for assistance from a staff member there and they will point out what is gluten free.

My daughter is celiac and they do an awesome job for her. Make sure to email special_needs@rccl.com and supply your booking number and condition. One of the Head Waiters will approach you the first night in the dining room the first night. In the Windjammer I always look for a Head Waiter to assist. Sorrento's can also make a gluten free pizza for you. She loves the gluten free pancakes on Royal. When we were on Indy in November I had both a gluten free and regular birthday cake made for our table. Most of us tried her gluten free cake and liked it better than the regular one. You may also want to search for Celiac Cruise that does some partial charters on some of Royal's ships. I have been trying to get her on one of those cruises but between COVID reschedules and her school schedule we aren't going to make it this year.

Traveled with somebody who was sensitive to gluten.  Tried some of the food I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty it was.  Even the rolls were good.  You'll have no problem finding food.  You may have a problem finding too much though.  😉

My sister has celiac disease and on our recent cruise she spoke to the head waiter in the dining room the first night of the cruise.  Each night at the end of our dinner she provided her with a menu for the next evening and said she would make sure the chef knew it had to be a gluten-free meal and each night the chef also prepared her a special gluten-free dessert.  My sister was very pleased with all the food and said it was really good.

This was in the main dining room, I don’t know about the specialty restaurants.
