famof4togo Posted January 18, 2022 #76 Share Posted January 18, 2022 Even though the rules are fleet wide I imagine it not only varies ship to ship but employee to employee...I do understand the whole "why make it a rule if not to be enforced" as a logical concept but I think in more practical terms it's just case by case.... are there people complaining? How large / close the crowd is? How practical sip/cover is at specific venue? Then just human nature...some people are less confrontational, some people are less of a believer in the merit of the mask etc.... I don't think there will ever be a 100% or even 90% consensus on enforcement at any point fleet wide.

This of course will hold true on Carnival because of the makeup of many of the people that cruise on Carnival. The mantra of Carnival being the Walmart of the Seas is unfortunately true at times. I know this from firsthand experience 20 times over the past 35+ years. On the other hand, just got back from 12 days on the Celebrity Apex, where masks were just required on board everywhere inside besides when you were eating and drinking as of January 3 and compliancy was well over 90%. They of course did not have an idiotic sip and cover policy. Which according to Carnivals own website is for the casino only, yet some ships in the fleet interpret the rules differently. This just continues the disparity with Carnival from ship to ship, sailing to sailing and employee to employee.
ray98 Posted January 19, 2022 #78 Share Posted January 19, 2022 My plan is to find a mask like this....best of both worlds....lol. This is how silly things have become. 3

Or is it just on the signs for show and as long as you are at the bar enjoying a drink your mask goes back on when you get up to leave. That was only in effect at the Casino, Show Lounge and Comedy Lounge bars two weeks ago on the Vista. The rest of the bars you can go maskless while drinking/eating just as in the dining room. I did not witness it being "enforced" at those locations but that seemed to be because most people were actively following what they agreed to do when boarding the ship. Hence I didn't see a lot of non-compliance. Anyone who was uncomfortable with the policy could easily opt out and rebook in the future.
Rare BlerkOne Posted January 20, 2022 #80 Share Posted January 20, 2022 How sad that petulant cruisers will only follow rules if Carnival wastes the time of overworked employees on enforcing over and over. The rules exist to protect passenger and crew. 5

There were constant announcements about Sip and Cover, but no crew members were really hounding people about it. Most everyone I encountered wore their masks indoors as requested. There were a few that did not. I even saw a lady in the main buffet area maskless walking around looking at the food and such. Can you tell me where I can find the capacity for my January 8 cruise on the Vista? I've asked John Heald, crew on ship, no answer. Back in the olden days this information was announced by the CD the first sea day.
Duanerice1 Posted January 22, 2022 #82 Share Posted January 22, 2022 Just off the Sunrise for 5 nights. Sip and cover was mentioned but not enforced in the comedy club, Red Frog, Sports Bar nor the theater. It was about 50/50.
ciera123 Posted January 24, 2022 #83 Share Posted January 24, 2022 I’m currently on Horizon for an 8 night cruise. The answer for this cruise is no. The rules are currently sip and cover in all the drinking areas, with signs posted.
dolphfan Posted January 24, 2022 #84 Share Posted January 24, 2022 Just got off the Magic this morning, Carnival is doing a great job of reminding people to wear masks. We were impressed. Had a great cruise!!!
