I'm basing that on:

3600 nm

17 kts. (about 400nm per day) as an approx economy speed.

Thats 17Kts in the water...  and with a prevailing wind and the current   thatwater can me moving at several Kts  faster    Much like an aircraft with a  tail wind.    A normal efficient route  has been  Ride the Calif current down to Cabo area then pick up a trans-equatorial current  Tropic convergence zone  zone  advantage   I seem to remember it being about 6 days doing 500NM  In an early government financed cruise.. 

However, it has been a few months since I  did my last noon sight/fix    Just how I remembered it.....

I think that's the route that whales take when going to HI.
