CruiseMGM Posted January 27, 2022 #3 Share Posted January 27, 2022 On our Koningsdam Mexican Riviera last month, it was a simple "50% off your drinks." We liked that and were often found at the Billboard Onboard bar whenever it was Happy Hour (didn't have HIA on that trip!). Not sure what it will be like on the Rotterdam, though. Enjoy your cruise! idiebabe Posted January 27, 2022 #4 Share Posted January 27, 2022 On Rotterdam in November it was 50% off a drink. My Daughter is Onboard now and said still 50% off a drink. On NS on December 5th it was Buy 1, 2nd one 50%. We questioned this at Guest Services and they said that was the pricing. 🤷♀️ If this has changed, would love to hear! Two years ago HAL make the glasses smaller and raised prices considerably. So, yes it is 50%, but much, much more expensive than two years ago... more than just inflation. Wine was still a 5 oz Pour same as two years ago. Yes, price has gone up for sure. Point is though one Ship charging 50% each drink which is 2 for 1 while other Ship charging Buy 1, 2nd one 50% off. Wondering if anyone knows if this has changed on NS since I was on it’s 2nd Sailing.
Cruizer Bill Posted January 27, 2022 #7 Share Posted January 27, 2022 They used to sell drinks two-for-one at Happy Hour and they were pretty good sized drinks. They cost $7 if I recall. Then, in 2019 they cut the size of the drinks by at least one third. Then they charged $1 for the second drink, then they changed that to $2 for the second drink, they they changed it to half price on the second drink. Then they raised the price of drinks to $10 plus 18 percent gratuity for a total of $11.80 per small drink. So, if the drinks used to cost $7 for a 9 ounce drink and you got a second one free at happy hour that means you got 18 ounces for $7 at Happy Hour. Now, you get 6 ounce drinks $10 for the first one and $5 for the second one plus add the gratuities. That means you get 12 ounces for $17.70. Not a good deal! And if it is not Happy Hour you pay $11.80 for one 6 ounce drink!!!

kangforpres Posted January 28, 2022 #9 Share Posted January 28, 2022 Well I did not have a drink package either and my bill would show 2 drinks ordered, then 1 drink removed and I got 2 drinks. So if that is not 2 for 1 I'm not sure what is. This was in October and November of 2022. -Paul

Nieuw Statendam in early December was charging Buy 1, 2nd 50% off. My DH questioned Guest Services about it and they said that’s what it is. 🤷♀️ Were you on Rotterdam? When we did AK on NA we had the Drink Package. I’m curious for NS since we’ll be back Onboard in March! grest Posted January 28, 2022 #11 Share Posted January 28, 2022 what time is happy hour? Is it limited to certain bars?

Yes, limited to certain bars, at least as far as the Koningsdam was concerned. Check out the daily schedule, it's on there (although we really had to search for it). Billboard Online bar and ??Crow's Nest?? were the 2 places on the Koningsdam, and it was usually 3-4pm and 9-10pm, but don't hold me to those numbers, I could be off by an hour one way on the later one, we usually visited Billboard Online in the afternoon before dinner.
Jersey42 Posted January 28, 2022 #13 Share Posted January 28, 2022 (edited) On the Eurodam this month all happy hour drinks were 50% off and they were the same drinks bought outside of happy hour. It would always be 4:00-5:00 in Billboard Online and 8:30-9:30 in the Ocean Bar. There was also another bar at 4:00-5:00, but I don't remember which one. Sometime the Billboard staff wandered over to the Gallery Bar and you received the 50% off from that server. One note is my wife was charged full price for a can of soda at Billboard. I am not sure if that was policy or a mistake. On the Nieuw Amsterdam in November, the times and places were similar but it was not 50% off. Instead it was buy one and get the second drink at a reduced price. I think the second drink was $2, but I don't remember for sure. NCTribeFan Posted January 28, 2022 #14 Share Posted January 28, 2022 On Eurodam in November, it was 50% off. I only went once, and it was in Ocean Bar from 4-5. On NA in December, I had HIA, so didn't pay attention to Happy Hour locations or times. I'll be on Zuiderdam for a B2B to Alaska in June. Booked a "base" casino fare (which includes drinks while playing in the casino), so I'll probably be looking for Happy Hour those two weeks. 1
Schooner-ca Posted January 29, 2022 #15 Share Posted January 29, 2022 Did a b2b on the Zuiderdam through the holidays. Happy hour started off at 30% after a few days it went to 50%. The important thing I noticed was that all drinks are measured. No more free pours.
