RichNY Posted January 29, 2022 #1 Share Posted January 29, 2022 Our 12 night Divina repositioning cruise , Miami to Port Canaveral, had been canceled. Not exactly sure why, needless to say we are not happy.
Two Boys Cruising Posted January 29, 2022 #2 Share Posted January 29, 2022 Oh no! Let me know what you hear. I'm on the 3 day ending on 3/27 and just yesterday I finally called to link dining reservations on 4 rooms. Nothing was said about our cruise or any issues. kidless Posted January 29, 2022 #3 Share Posted January 29, 2022 Our TA said it was due to itinerary challenges. Not sure what that means but that’s their story.
Lisichka Posted January 30, 2022 #4 Share Posted January 30, 2022 I was just reading in the NCL forum that a Panama cruise from LA to Miami was denied entry in almost all ports (Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, etc). It is ending up almost all sea days for them. MSC is probably trying to avoid a similar fate.

Not sure of the original itinerary but this may be the problem. Good Sailing Tom

Good Sailing Tom Why wouldn't the PVSA be covered and the repositioning cruise made legit with a quick stop at OC? After all, that island is in the Bahamas. I guess if a cruise company wanted to have a reliable way out, they'd dredge up a private island sufficiently far away for the statute. Not enough repositioning activity to make it worth all the trouble. Before COVID, it would have been laughable to consider Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao could ever be simultaneously verboten. phissy Posted January 30, 2022 #9 Share Posted January 30, 2022 (edited) Ah ha, this explains why we had such a great itinerary on our repositioning cruise in November. Meraviglia - Miami to Port Canaveral 8 nights. We had 2 days OC , sea days then full days at Bonaire and Curaçao . Went on dive excursion on Bonaire and locals had never seen MSC ship before. Lots of questions about ship and cruise line. Would love to go back to Bonaire again. Edited January 30, 2022 by phissy
FrostyJoe Posted January 30, 2022 #10 Share Posted January 30, 2022 I believe y’all are have wrong act cited. I believe it’s Jones Act that y’all are thinking about.

RichNY Posted January 30, 2022 Author #12 Share Posted January 30, 2022 (edited) Interesting how in March the Divina is sailing our same itinerary, from Miami, with the exception of Roatan. Also there is no Divina repositioning cruise from Miami to Port Canaveral. The plot thickens. Edited January 30, 2022 by RichNY

Av8tor Posted January 31, 2022 #14 Share Posted January 31, 2022 I wonder if the PVSA and/or Jones Act applies if they reposition a cruise liner from Miami to Port Canaveral or FLL (or vice versa) with NO passengers aboard? If not, there may be no need to go to a foreign port, distant or otherwise. Those ports are so close that it could be done quickly and only delay the onward boarding of the follow on cruise with passengers by a few hours... The Jones Act regulates chattle (ie cargo). If the ship is just moving to another port and not transporting passengers or cargo from one US port to another US port then they are fine. Good Sailing Tom but but....multiple posters on these boards say we are cargo with MSC. Not too valuable one at that too 🤪 1
fortheboys Posted February 9, 2022 #17 Share Posted February 9, 2022 What options is MSC offering for Divina March 27 cruise. We have not been told of cancellation by MSC. Only found out by looking at roll call. Thank you
