Scotto97 Posted January 29, 2022 #1 Share Posted January 29, 2022 Does anyone know whether a player that receives free drinks from the casino count against their 15 drink per day limit via Cheers? I would think you'd need to tell the casino waiter to make sure and not charge your Cheers account for the drink, but does anyone have experience with this? Colorado Beach Bum Posted January 29, 2022 #3 Share Posted January 29, 2022 Yes, they count. Anything rang in to the system under your card counts to the 15 drink limit.
mondello Posted January 29, 2022 #4 Share Posted January 29, 2022 Some guests may get offered a complimentary pay dining venue by the casino host if Cheers has already been purchased.

The wait staff don't choose which one to bill. Your folio is coded with which/all drink programs you have and the computer does the rest. Since all drinks count towards the 15 limit, it doesn't matter. On the ship's accounting, drinks rung on the casino point of sales go on DOU. ArchieCruise Posted January 29, 2022 #6 Share Posted January 29, 2022 Even if the casino offers to buy you a drink it goes against your Cheers package.
CarolSW Posted January 30, 2022 #7 Share Posted January 30, 2022 So if I am understanding this correctly, even if I am paying “full price” for drinks, my limit on my sign & sail card is 15 per day. I suppose that would be true even if I am buying drinks for members of my family or friends?

If you buying the drinks without it then you can drink as much as you can as long as you can afford it.

All passengers are limited to 15 drinks per day whether Cheers, DOU, or guest paid.

While that's technically true, the process seems to have some slack built in - my other half has had no trouble buying many extra shots onboard. I'm not sure if the bartender has the ability to 'code' paid orders as 'for other people' or what, but he has definitely ended up at well over 15 just for himself and into multiple dozens on his tab in a day. Once the system 'figures out' that he's hit his 15, though, I am then in charge of buying shots. I've never had a bartender remind me that he's had his fifteen and can't partake when I order a round - rounds that definitely 'should' put me over 15 for the day too, for what it's worth. Boy, we sound like degenerates. Edited February 1, 2022 by Virga

I don't believe this is true. I have been at a table where someone hit their limit and the Casino bought them drinks. It may have changed, but it's like someone else buying you drinks. If you make friends onboard and they buy you a drink, it does not count. Just like you buying someone else a drink, because you can't share, it does not count. The old trick is to buy drinks for yourself when getting close to 15. Some bartenders allow it and don't ask who it is for, some ask and might not allow it. We maxed out about 8 P.M. the first night of a cruise and the casino host bought our drinks the rest of the night. She actually assigned a server to each of us and told them to take care of us on her account.
