Stringed music in Atrium since Covid?

I will be cruising on the Conquest in March.  It's my first time on this ship, but I have cruised her sister ships.  When I was on the Magic in September/2021, they still had the stringed musicians playing in the Atrium each evening.  This is one of my favorite activities on cruise.  We go there before dining and enjoy!  Does anyone know if there is a group on the Conquest?  If so, what is their name?  Thank you in advance for any help!

I don't know about Conquest but they were on the Vista and the Breeze as well so I suspect they are playing on all the ships per normal. Probably the safest job on board since they're usually fairly removed from the crowd. Do they have a name beyond Violin Trio? LOL

Accidental String Trio was at the Alchemy Bar on Carnival Legend in December. They had a guitar soloist and a duo who took turns on the atrium stage, and a 5-piece band called Alter Idem in Red Frog. Accidental String Trio and Alter Idem were both amazing - they are a big part of the reason I'm repeating the Legend cruise in March!

Why is there so much violin music. Is this a new trend? Is this in demand? I am cruising to the Caribbean, this seems odd. Is Carnival changing there business model from "The Fun" ship to the Lawrence Welk Champagne Ship?

We had the violin trio in the Atrium most evenings on the Pride out of Baltimore back in October.

They were far from "Lawrence Welk" music.  Very high energy mix of classical, pop, and rock compositions and a very talented group of players. Think of the violins from Eletric Light Orchestra, or perhaps Charlie Daniels or Papa John Creach, not scmaltzy "easy listening music" violin.

Don't knock it until you try it!

Just a difference of opinions. I did hear the trio on the Valor this week. They were very talented. However, there appeared to be only three musical groups on the ship. The violin trio, a band and a solo guitarist for night time music. The piano bar and the casino bar stage were closed and not utilized during the cruise. As I said the trio was talented, it did get old due to lack of music variety during the cruise. I will be on the Freedom in late February and I hope more musical venues will be open.

The violin trio did mix up there dress apparel based on their music. One night was more formal. They were dressed in evening gown and ties (break out the bubbly). Another night they were more casually dressed and the music was upbeat as you mentioned.

Thanks for your input.

The violin group on Magic is something Electric Waves. They’re awesome! They did both a Queen and BeeGees tribute a couple weeks ago.

I totally agree! I enjoyed listening to them each night. A very talented trio!

They are far from Lawrence Welk type music! Yes, there are plenty of high energy activities on board Carnival ships. But I also thoroughly enjoyed listening to some extremely talented musicians prior to dinner each evening.

It is a trend that started prior to COVID.  They are ok but they replaced one of the acoustic guitar singers which is our preference.  We may watch a few songs but we always move to one of the other soloists or bands.
