New York hotels

Charlie,

In NYC there's absolutely no reason to stay close to the port.

There are very few hotels close to the port and the area is dark and desolate at night (most of the business's are car dealerships and small warehouses that close up after 5:00PM). There are very few restaurants in the area and it's not an area that holds any attraction.

NYC isn't that big and no matter where you're staying, you'll be taking a taxi to the port. Does it really matter if the cabfare is $5.-$8. more and takes 15 minutes longer because you're not close to the pier?

Base your hotel decision on what you feel is the best bang for your buck and what your hotel needs are. Don't worry about being close to the port. It's very unimportant here.

First off, there are 3 ports serving New York, so it would be helpful if you told us which one you are sailing from. If from the westside NYPST or Red Hook in Brooklyn, then just about anywhere in Manhattan would do. If Cape Liberty, you could consider Jersey City or near EWR. You also fail to tell us when you need your room; from Labor Day to Christmas is high season and sometimes hotels will not book for only one night.

Even an inexpensive hotel in NYC is in the $200 range, so Stevie, your post about the Marriott Marquis is of no help to the OP. How and under what circumstances did you pay only $100? Was it in this century?

You might try a downtown hotel for a good weekend rate. Hotels.com, Expedia, Orbitz, or Travelocity are a good place to start to see lots of options. Then when you can be specific, we can be more helpful.

Hi Try this hotel it has parking for up to 14 days I believe, hotel for up to 4 people and provides a shuttle to Cape Liberty. I had this all booked for us, but them realized it was not for the NY port but for the NJ port.It was a great deal somewhere around $180.00.

Arriving by Car?

We offer Park & Cruise Packages that guarantee parking in a safe and secure parking lot with shuttle service to and from the cruise port and overnight hotel accommodations.

Where Do I Sleep?

Our Park & Cruise and Fly & Cruise packages include special room rates that guarantee a worry-free hotel stay the night before your departure, so you'll be well rested for your trip.

How Do I Get to the Port?

Hassle-free transfers to your cruise port leave you with plenty of time before your departure so you will never miss a cruise due to traffic or flight delays.

LOL! That is what I was wondering if it was this century!

Seriously, signman's post is dead on. Peak season you'll be lucky to find a hotel on priceline for under $250.
