It was by far the best sushi I've ever had on a ship! It was just so tasty and fresh. I ordered a la carte,

I agree.  Though it was almost 4 years ago we had sushi on the Gem, we often mention how surprisingly good it was, better than many restaurants.  The rolls were very reasonably priced.  We sat at the sushi bar a couple of times and like you - we were alone and got all the attention.

It's definitely on our agenda when we sail on the Gem again in a few weeks.

You are welcome to join us anytime. For dinner, going ashore, whatever. We are very social. We are 4- me, husband, 2 young adult kids. We are kind of fuddie duddies at night. But our kids are hoping to enjoy the night life a little more.  This will be their first trip to Europe.
Before I met my husband, I used to travel solo. It makes for a lot of flexibility, but can get a little lonely. You will find most cruisers super friendly.
