Can you get a Covid test on the ship?

We are planning to go on the POA in April (fingers crossed) and we go straight to the airport to fly home the day the cruise finishes. To get back in to Australia we will need a supervised negative covid test that no more then 3 days old, does any one know if we can get it done on the ship or do I need to find somewhere in port to get it done?

You could in October on the Encore, I think it was $100 for a PCR test if you were paying, at the time they were doing RF/PCR for free if your country required them to return home.

On our Dec. 5-22 transatlantic cruise, we were told beforehand by NCL rep on phone that the required tests to fly home, would be done free on the ship.

 

We booked NCL air to fly home Dec. 24 (2 days after disembarkation).   There was another Canadian couple doing the same, flying home with NCL bought air on Dec. 24, just a few hours before us.   By the time we got on the ship, we were told they won't do the PCR (required for Canada, as the antigen is not sufficient) for us.

 

Our Canadian friend kept asking, including if paying, and were still told no.  They told us that they kept on pressing and on the night of Dec. 21, they were able to get the PCR tests done on ship, paying US$150/p.

 

NCL may have done the tests free on the ship before.  Not now.  In some ports, they're arranging for you to get tested right after you disembark -- so it's not NCL's responsibility but between you and the tester at port.

According the the NCL website they will provide an antigen test onboard for free for travel purposes. If you need a PCR test you will to find a place when you disembark.

Antigen Tests

COVID-19 antigen tests prior to disembarkation will be administered on board and paid for by the Cruise Line for those guests who require a test to return home.

PCR Tests

Effective for all disembarkations beginning January 8, 2022, PCR tests will only be available onboard to confirm a positive antigen test, or to test a symptomatic patient. Those guests requiring a PCR test to return home will be responsible for expense and must obtain the test shoreside after the disembarkation either at a company designated facility, at the airport prior to flying out, or at a nearby clinic of their choice. At all US disembarkation ports, Norwegian Cruise Line has engaged a vendor to administer PCR testing at the terminal for those guests requiring a PCR test to return home. If guests choose this service, the guests will proceed to a designated area in the terminal for their PCR test at the guests' expense which varies by port, then proceed with their travel plans as they await their test results which will be sent electronically approximately 90 minutes after the test. Estimated PCR test costs by port are as follows:

• All current US departure ports (except those listed below) - $125 per person
• New Orleans - $180 per person
• New York - $250 per person
• San Juan - $150 per person

We will continue to update as additional services become available.

If a guest booked a post-cruise hotel, it is the responsibility of the guest to make their own arrangements to get re-tested at their own expense.

A word of caution - If you have a RA Test it needs to be done no more than 24hrs prior to your flight departing Hawaii. The 3 day limit is for PCR tests. As you are leaving directly the same day you should be okay.

We are hopefully cruising on POA in July and not flying out until Monday so we will need to find somewhere in Honolulu before we leave to get the RAT. It is a real POA (not Pride of America!!)

It’s the same going there, it needs to be less then 24hrs old, which is a real pain from perth since you need to stop (and our stop over is 24 hrs) so we need to find somewhere in Sydney to get tested on the way over.

I found the following link on the Sydney Airport link which will probably help you - 

The Histopath testing clinic at T1 International Departures level concourse, located opposite entrance D, is a walk-in clinic only for people who are travelling internationally. Please arrive at least 4-5 hours prior to check in time.
