merlot Posted May 14, 2004 #26 Share Posted May 14, 2004 Sandra, Funny you should mention this. My dh asked why I packed so many shoes. Well, I've got tennis shoes in case I feel like working out, the sandals that I'll be wearing when I board the ship, plus the black shoes that go with the black dress and the black shoes that go with the black pants because they don't go with the black dress, but the black shoes that go with the black dress aren't comfy. LOL He really rolled his eyes over that. I didn't think it was all too hard to understand LOL. Guest Posted May 17, 2004 #30 Share Posted May 17, 2004 Evening bags are another mystery to me. For some reason, they have to be tiny. Wife, of course, can't fit everything in there that has to accompany her, so half of it (comb, makeup, etc.) ends up in my pockets.
Yellowjacket1 Posted May 17, 2004 #31 Share Posted May 17, 2004 GaGirl, 140 pairs of Shoes???? I have just one question, "How many feet do you have that you need 140 pairs of shoes?" We tease my wife's best friend because she has about 25 pair, your husband should be nominated for sainthood!!! Steve Lord, I was born a ramblin man . . . wannasail4ever Posted May 17, 2004 #32 Share Posted May 17, 2004 jgmpuma - lordy, if I didn't know better, I'd swear my husband wrote that post. You've got him down to a tee! As for shoes, you can never have enough. Heck, I buy shoes and then build outfits around them. LOL As for how much to take, well, just make sure that your luggage has wheels. 6/5 Glory

tjohn159d Posted May 18, 2004 #35 Share Posted May 18, 2004 I can pack in about 45 minutes. Got used to it when I was traveling all the time for the company. It takes DW about 2 to 3 days to gather everything up and get it ready to go into the bags(even with a list). We usually pack our formal wear a few days early and hang it in the closet. Two times now I have forgotten to put it in the car before we left. The first time we flew to DFW to spend the night before heading to Hi. I had to rent a car and drive back to north of OKC to get the thing (10 hrs R/T). The second time I had to stop in Alexandria, VA and let DW and DD buy new gowns. At least I had their suitcase full of shoes with us. It doesnt weight much when its just shoes, so that helps. ralmyers Posted May 18, 2004 #36 Share Posted May 18, 2004 Hold on now.... I will do the packing the night before so I don't miss anything, and I will have to pack the DH so we don't have to take a uhaul. He is the Diva when it comes to packing not I! He thinks he needs 10 pairs of shorts, 35 shirts, 25 pairs of socks and 7 pairs of shoes. I think he is nuts! I mean I like clothes just like the next person, but shoes are really where it is at! At one time I owned 82 pairs of shoes, I am down to about 30, but the good thing about shoes is that they ALWAYS fit me no matter how much you lose or gain Besides, why bother with that pedicure if you are going to only wear one pair of shoes. Bad part is that I like really expensive clothes and especially shoes, so... I can either buy limited amounts of the good stuff -- or lots of the less expensive stuff. Probably all weighs out in the end! As far as carrying the bags-- that is why you get bags with wheels. I am sure a man invented that bag especially for his over packing wife! shabcruzn Posted May 18, 2004 #37 Share Posted May 18, 2004 Gagirl I feel you--I have 100+ pairs of shoes, however,I have narrowed my shoes down to 6 pairs of shoes--gagirl trust me I understand your plight. Select outfits that one pair of shoes goes with them all. For example--I have simple back dress, a black and white striped, black cocktail, and black and silver evening gown, and black skirt and shirt-- I am taking a pair of black strappy sandals. Another pair goes with two outfits--you get the point. Then am taking black sandals that go with anything, white sandals that go with anything, white sneakers, and two pair of flip-flops. It works--take it from a true shoe addict! Men don't try to understand. Just carry her bags and curse at her mentally in your heads! 7/17 ON MY WAY TO TRIUMPH CRUISE

Next time you weed down your shoes let me know...hehehe Wannasail4ever...my luggage does have wheels, I agree, sometimes I pick out my shoes, then I pick out what outfit goes with the shoes. I have a purse that states: "if the shoe fits buy one in every color" hehehe only 4 more days until I sail on the Glory!
