PBodek Posted February 27, 2022 #1 Share Posted February 27, 2022 Hello, I've read that Covid protocol is changing, but when doing a pre-cruise excursion will we be quarantined to the hotel room in Reykjavik pending a negative Covid test? We'll have a Covid test before boarding the plane. Will we be able to wander about in Reykjavik or only be able to take the Viking excursions? Thank you! 99 days and counting! TayanaLorna Posted February 27, 2022 #2 Share Posted February 27, 2022 (edited) When we did the Viking pre cruise extension in Barcelona we had to present a negative test to Viking personnel at the hotel. We were free to explore with Viking or on our own. After checking in for embarkation, we had to do the saliva test on the ship. At that time (11-29-21) we did not have to stay in our stateroom until results received as Omicron was just starting. For our Iceland in July we did not need to have a negative test upon arrival, only our vaccination info. We did not need to stay in our room until results from Viking saliva test received. Who knows what will be the protocol for the future in Iceland. Or with Viking for that matter. I read that Iceland is dropping all Covid restrictions. Unless that changes, the only protocols you will need to follow are Vikings. Iceland is AWESOME! Enjoy. We did Iceland last summer as well. The protocols changed three days before we left home. It is too soon to start worrying about it now -- and anything that happened last summer is so stale that it is has no bearing on what you will encounter this coming summer. Things may change between now and then and who needs to spend 99 days on that roller coaster!? Tune in about 30 days before leaving. Iceland had a great website that told us exactly what we needed to enter the counry (https://visit.covid.is/). Viking will start feeding you the most recent requirements at that point as well. Ditto what Lorna said: Iceland IS awesome
