Rare RN_Prof Posted March 4, 2022 #1 Share Posted March 4, 2022 Wife and I are in New Orleans March 25 & 26. Staying near the World War II museum before our cruise. Looking for recommendations for a family friendly place (we would not be into the Bourbon Street thing) to listen to live music (Jazz, R & B)? Would prefer walking distance, between hotel and French Market area. Thanks for the help.

If I'm reading into your question right it sounds like you are looking for something thats not in the rowdy category-- wasn't sure if you also meant you would have kids with you by family friendly. We have spent many very nice evenings at the Davenport Lounge at The Ritz Carlton and it is very family friendly- Jeremy Davenport and his band put on a great show. Would recommend reservations though. Also don't discount a trip to Preservation Hall in the French Quarter just because of its proximity to Bourbon Street. Short shows, very informal, and a great introduction to live dixieland jazz. There isn't bar inside so it doesn't get very rowdy.
Rare RN_Prof Posted March 6, 2022 Author #3 Share Posted March 6, 2022 Yes, no kids. My wife and I are just not into the wild party scene.
Mountain Traveler Posted March 19, 2022 #4 Share Posted March 19, 2022 Look at Mulate's Cajun Restaurant. I think you can go just for music and dancing. We had a great time there many years ago.
