amindu Posted March 4, 2022 #1 Share Posted March 4, 2022 Hi All - we are in the process of booking a cruise from Galveston for 7 days. We have a 2 year old, and from everything I have read they will need to test like us before the cruise and then there will be another test at the port and another during the trip. Do I have this information correct? Is there a resource that shows how many in that age group tested positive during the trip to see what our risk percentage looks like? Also have there been issues with false negatives? Thanks.
smplybcause Posted March 4, 2022 #2 Share Posted March 4, 2022 What do you mean by issue with false negative? No one has released info on how many test positive at the port. Plus it doesn't really matter how many tested positive before, only your personal risk. If you're that worried the family should just go on lock down for the week or so before the cruise. No, and RCI even quit disclosing the on board positives - don't expect to get any numbers released by the cruise lines.
Starry Eyes Posted March 4, 2022 #4 Share Posted March 4, 2022 “they will need to test like us before thecruise and then there will be another test at the port andanother during the trip. “ You will need to arrange that first test (PCR) yourselves; “they” won’t do that one for you. Be sure testing requirements and can get the result back in time. Even if some general data from past cruises were available it might offer limited insight into your specific child’s risk with that child’s specific behavior patterns on board your specific cruise. There are false negatives on covid tests; they are more common with the antigen tests.

He/she knows it and specified it in their post. When we sailed in November 2021 with then unvaxxed kiddo, the kid was tested at the pier by RCI and then again the day before disembarkation, in addition to the test we had to arrange ourselves up to 3 days before they cruise.
